"Harassment means any comment or behaviour that is unwelcome, offensive, demeaning, humiliating, derogatory, or is otherwise inappropriate or fails to respect the dignity of an individual."
I've had a LOT of trouble with men before: emotionally, physically, and sexually. Even if it's just a joke, guys flirting with me reminds me of the bad experiences I've had. Justin knows that, so he's protective of me in that sense. I asked him to respond, because I didn't know whether or not I would be taken seriously for my comment, 'cause I'm a chick and asshole guys I've been around haven't taken me seriously because of that.
Experience leads to reactions, and I've had guys say that kinda shit to me and mean it. I'm pretty cautious, it's just the way my life has made me. Lay offa Justin, he's just trying to protect me in the way most guys I know do - by defending at all costs, reputation included. ( Also, before you go saying - this is the internet! - I've had problems online too. )
Just.. calm down for a bit. I'm sorry if anything here personally offended you. People get upset and say shit without thinking of exactly how it'll be understood; it's a natural, human mistake. Most problems in the world arise because of misunderstandings. It has nothing to do with maturity. Mistakes and rash emotions happen at all ages, whether the person is mature or immature.
Sure, it sucks that you have man trouble. You're not unique in that respect - you have a vagina. It comes with the territory. But you obviously take things way too seriously. Examples:
1) "I've had guys say that kinda shit to me and mean it." So you really mean that the comment itself wasn't offensive, but you thought it might lead to something else that might be. You've made it obvious to everyone who has at least one eye that you're taken. If the fact that someone only sees part of your online personality isn't enough to deter them, the fact that you're taken or that you live on another continent should be.
2) Yes, this is the internet. "Problems online" are never only the fault of one person. A constant barrage of emails or messages is a "problem?" You shouldn't have given out your email address. Now block theirs. Someone thought you were attractive, got your number from any number of places where you advertised it, and started calling you? Set all your profiles to private and only give out your number in private messages. Sure, you'll still get messages from strange guys every once in a while telling you you're attractive, and how they wish you'd accept their friend request, or call them, or meet them for coffee. If you ignore shit like that in the first place, they give up.
3) You didn't know if you would be taken seriously, so you didn't say anything at all and waited for your big, bad bodyguard to back you up? That's even more reason not to take you seriously. You made zero attempt to right the problem yourself. It's oh-so-much more meaningful if you do just that; then take in back-up if you need it.
And make sure your back-up doesn't look like a fool. "Hey, that makes her uncomfortable. I know you probably didn't mean anything by it, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't do that again," works MUCH better than "I'll knock all your teeth out and rip your face up if you so much as think of saying that again."
Like I said in the thread, empty threats on the internet are nothing but immature. ESPECIALLY if they are made in front of an entire community. Do the classy thing next time and keep it to the private profile messages.

A couple of pointers on Plurk:
• The higher your karma points, the fancier the emoticons
• If you feel SPAMMED by someone, you press the MUTE button
• You lose karma points when people do not accept friend requests and when you don't post often
• The site is still evolving and new features are being added

Request for Feedback About an Idea I Have (Blog Entry by lucky760)
Are you moonlighting, Lucky? Tsk-tsk. I dig the idea, Lucky. I'm surprised you aired it in the open like this. I think this is different than the boxbe service Dag linked to above, because the boxbe gives you a temporary email addy that just forwards everything to your real address. I kind of like the idea of not having to log into the "proxy.com": once you create a "proxy.com" account, it's done. Nothing else to do at the site. Makes me wonder how you'd monetize it that way, though.
Still, I think syncing with the address book would be great.
It would be cool if you could synch it with your email address book, too. I know when I signed up for facebook, it read through my hotmail addresses and added them to my facebook profile page. It even added dag, though he never accepted my friend request.

Dog has a close call with a bolt of lightning
Jesus, is this what modern life has become? We spend all of our time marking MySpace friend requests as spam and analyzing every internet video like it's the God damned Zapruder film? Douchebags of the net have driven us to this fate!
Don't be a douchebag! Stop the faking of internet videos!
