free style climbing is just ridiculous, it makes those climbers that use ropes look like pansies, and those that don't climb look like quivering mounds of jelly.

Unfortunately he's over 2 seconds behind the freestyle record. But as long as he enters the wrong sort of competition, I don't see him being beaten.

Perhaps it should be called a "swimming race" and you can swim anyway you'd like. Unless of course, you can use ANY method you want in "free-style" races.

Just to be clear, the point I'm making is that the existence of someone better (and there is always someone better) does not denigrate the achievement of the young girl. Kudos to her.



I've always preferred that style of drumming. I had a mentor when I was a teenager that drummed this way, very free form, and he always wasn't even really paying attention and would pull off the most varied rolls. It's so much better than the one/two-trick pony of guys like the Goulon guy who can do a very fast drum beat but rarely uses more than two or three rolls.

Today when I get the chance to drum (I don't have a set, I live in an apartment building lol) I find myself a much more free style drummer like the guy above.. though not nearly as good.

On topic, that girl is by far the best teenage female drummer I've seen. You always get 'look how amazing my kid is at drums' and while they all have talent, they aren't all that great in the end. This girl is fantastic. Though I cannot imagine how she can hit a base drum in this shoes!

Dude, that's what improv is. It's honing those jokes to fit all kinds of circumstances. It's like rap free-styling: you do it over and over so that the puns/rhymes are modular and can fit into all kinds of contexts. They are on a weekly show doing this over and over for God's sake, of course they're going to have chambered jokes. If they didn't, they'd be brain-dead.
