Christopher Hitchens "Debates" Bill Donohue on Mother Teresa

Kreegath says...

Hitchens argue for his book based on the letters Theresa wrote shortly before her death(?), and Donohue recites what she did during her lifetime. How is that relevant to Hitchens argument and statement that she lost her faith before passing away? It's like Donohue knew he couldn't refute Hitchen's arguments and instead decided to talk about something completely different, some (to the discussion at hand) meaningless facts that are not disputed by anyone. Sadly, that just makes him embarrasing to listen to.

Jackson 5 - I Want You Back

lavoll says...

it always seems a little embarrasing (sp?) to me to be the oldest borther in the bunch. kinda big and akward compared to the rest. same with the hansons. it's cool to be the little guy, but kinda icky to see the big guy still playing with his little brothers.

Profound Incompetence

Ryjkyj says...

Let's see cheshirepuss, how many things are TOTALLY WRONG about what you just wrote:

"Incompetence" YES!!!! What else do you call it when someone loses that much equipment? Do you realize how much mooney we're talking about? Do you realize how dangerous 200,000 unmarked untraceable weapons are? The effect that has on OUR TROOPS?!?!??! What can you call that besides PROFOUND, EMBARRASING, ABSOLUTE and UNDENIABLE INCOMPETENCE?

WELL?

"part of the diversion." What diversion? I would say he's being informative. I would in fact say that he is enlightening people as to the HUGE diversion that has already been perpetrated against them.

WHAT DIVERSION?

"satire turns to puns" I only saw one pun (one is singular by the way) during that whole clip. It's the "Mess o' potamia" pun, and they've been using it for years.

So satire didn't in fact "turn to puns".

Your opinion about John Stewart is your own.
I have an opinion of my own though.

My opinion is that your kind of ignorance is the cause of most of the world's problems. (And that people who have an obsession with the Cheshire Cat, are in fact douchebags)

Ron Paul vs Drug war supporter - 1988

justinianrex says...

Thank God for Ron Paul. I've held on to the assertion (at times tenuously) that they can't be as bad as their elected officials because many liberals I meet aren't as embarrasingly craven as theirs, but it's nice to see someone talk some fucking sense.

Dangerous Living: Coming Out in the Developing World

gluonium says...

Its grossly embarrasing that these things are still even considered an issue at all anymore. What does it say about human intelligence as a whole, that the very simplest test of it conceivable - the acceptance of a subset of the population that loves the same sex and clearly causes no harm to anyone - is failed miserably by virtually everyone else?

Evolution?--Three Republicans in Debate Don't Believe in It

videosiftbannedme ......what a wonderful name....Look agnosticators.....

The dems are weak-ass posers, like the repubs, in that, they play for their team....the job of both is to convince you all that there is one team, better than the other, on points near, and dear, to your confused little hearts-

you folks who place some contrived, semantics-twisted faith in the dems over the repubs, place your faith in another beast poised to ass-rape you for all you can give, for they are ass-rapers ready to whore to whomever will suit them for the moment........I am embarrased to live in a country with so many morons....who would bother to waste valuable muscle, grey matter, and time, to picking one that best suits.....you who pick have been engineered to follow and parrot, the mythical lemming, who suprisingly, shows more balls than brains, when it comes to survival......PICTURE A ROOMFULL OF HUMAN BANGING THEIR HEADS AGAINST A WALL AND CALLI911NG IT GOVERNMENT.....and you have America......

ego is so easily fed, with a happy meal-Junk Food is the anitchrist, and minions are her red carpet, to oblivion....

glass illusion

gluonium says...

obviously multi-walled annular voids of varying volume WITHIN the individual glasses. pour the liquid into ever thinner rings to make it look like it's filling the whole glass volume. really, I hope if aliens exist they don't see this. I mean really, it's a little embarrasing for our species to still be fooling itself so easily in these ways!

Carl Sagan on Charlie Rose

gluonium says...

Its always nice to see Carl, I think for many of us who read his books, its not too much of a stretch to say that he changed our lives. There's no going back to the cowering fear and confusing darkness of an unenlightened, superstition imbued life after learning how to think skeptically from him. He was simultaneously incandescently brilliant and deeply poetic, an extreme rarity. The planet is impoverished greatly for his loss. That said, its a shame this interview is essentially totally wasted on Charlie Rose. Nearly all his questions are frustratingly (even embarrasingly) childish and trite. It's painfully obvious he doesn't get it even by the end of the interview, "faith, Carl, faith". Whatever Charlie.

Devendra Banhart - At the Hop

choggie says...

Why the embarrasement?? Cause, I'm white, and that song blew chunky soup, bad enough to smell the hippie that wrote it.....perhaps that is a sign of a good song to some, my suggestion, buy more soap, instead of cuppucino.....

choggie (Member Profile)

bluecliff says...

Ahhh, come on. So his philosophy isn't the best or brightest around. He does have some OK songs. (the video IS sort of a throwback) But why embarrasment? and to white people no less?

As for the background check - hell, the bio. of Jesus looks like shit on the internet. I don't know why but the "series of tubes" seems to reject thought, and constructive analysis like hostile bacteria.

You hit my "pseudo-intellectual reply" nerve with "veganesque" : )

(you should have perhaps added vagrantish, burgeois-bohemian and/or vagabondian)

In reply to your comment:
God these hippies are depressing, guess it's a flashback to SF and Colorado, all the smelly, Dead-head throwbacks.....GET SOME SOAP HIPPIES!!!!!...start a farm, something! Anything but write any more innane songs!!!

As suspected, just did some recon on this guy, looks like some college-town local band with a drippy-brained following, an audiophile, who is also a mediocre musician, who is tattooed with the whole, "flowers in gun barrels", anti-depressant, veganesque, nuevo-hippy poser. Otherwise known as, "An Embarrasment to White People Everywhere!!!!!"

In defence of Sweatshops

gluonium says...

I don't agree with penn and teller on everything aaaaand this is one of those things. The argument that "oh well you know, those kids would just be turned out by pimps anyway if they weren't working in a sweatshop" is just embarrasingly laughable. Penn LOVES the libertarianism and ADORES the cato institute. You can tell when he takes it too far....
