Chop Suey in Rock Band 2 on Real Drums with the Omega GM-1

Zawash says...

The sound we hear hasn't got anything to do with the drums played in the video, other than faint thuds from hitting the pads - watch the drum fill at 0:29 - he plays a drum fill, but we still hear the regular drums from the original track.

As well - even if this was a "proper" rock band recording, you'd only trigger the pre-recorded sounds anyway, save for the odd drum fill.

For a Rock Band session to qualify as a livemusic, in my opinion, you'd have to overdub the drums with the sounds generated from a proper drumkit - electronic or acoustic.

And yes, I own and play rock band myself - I have an Alesis Dm10 kit hooked up with MIDI for proper drums, the Rock Band Keyboard for proper keyboard and the Fender Squier plastic fantastic "Strat" for MIDI guitar. It is especially fun with friends and beer.

Why is this not live music ? if sum one was playing the drums from sheet music with a tape recording of the other instruments they are doing exactly the same thing.

Will Rock Band Drums Teach You Real World Drumming?

detheter says...

So, i was going to go on a rant about how this video is flawed, but i will break it down into bit sized chunks.

Coheed and Cambria suck.

Their music is simple.

The kit they play might as well be a rock band kit for the size of it, all four pieces wow.

The guy has played drums before.

This is a lousy excuse for an interview.

and

Lets see him pull off something by a drummer like Neil Pert, Mike Portnoy, or Tomas Haake. Put this guy behind a drumkit, say, even a six piece, or an eight like I play, or a 12, and see him fall apart like a little baby.

Typographic video of Ben Folds "Zak and Sara"

Krupo says...

MMMBAH BAH!

Random fact/story from Wiki: "Folds tells audiences about a jury recital while a student at the University of Miami’s music school. A jury recital consists of playing a prepared repertoire (and sometimes unprepared pieces from prior years of training) before faculty members who then apply a grade for the entire semester. Folds, a drummer, showed up with a hand broken from a previous night’s partying, but was required to play anyway. He ended up losing his scholarship, and threw his drumkit into a lake on campus."
