If Famous Websites were Real People

bluecliff says...

I was completely disappointed. Google should have been a large fat man, with most of the sites on a leash, like Jaba with Leia. There should be drool coming from his mouth
Youtube should have been a schizophrenic, insane person, dressed in hip-hop cloths, speaking gibberish spanglish.
Also, there is no weeping, nor gnashing of teeth...

Privatization turned The Learning Channel into Honey-Boo-Boo (Politics Talk Post)

wasnt there a provision for those who sought to utilize public airwaves that they had to have so much "educational" programming in order to gain and/or retain their broadcasting license?

and isnt PBS only 40% tax-payer backed? i forgot where i read that PBS was ran on 60% donations.that the taxpayers filled in the gap/loss which averaged a 60/40 ratio.

either way you slice it,what we are seeing is political hay and nothing more.making the argument that PBS is some socialists wet dream is just bullshit.i wonder if the irony is lost on these people who wish to shut down an institution to replace it with mind-numbing,vapid staleness.creating a zombified drooling public.

or is that the actual intent? to dumb down the american public?

i would like to subscribe to that conspiracy but these retards cant get out of their own way, nevermind concoct such an elaborate scheme such as i am suggesting.

so all for the sake of political whoring we may lose an institution that has brought some of the best and ground-breaking educational programming since the mid 60's.
and the collective IQ of this country drops.
sad...
so very very sad.

sesame street came out the year i was born.i learned how to read before i hit kindergarten because of that show AND it was one of many shows that got my craving to absorb information and learn.

but i guess "future strippers of america" is more important.

Ted Koppel: Fox News 'Bad for America'

enoch says...

a little over 30 years ago news used to be not-for profit but rather a badge of honor and integrity.journalists and newsrooms prided themselves on actually reporting and while there were still problems, america had a fourth estate that (for the most part) still reported actual news.

where we find ourselves today is corporate opinion news that (since the late 70's) is FOR-profit).gone are the days of actual news and what is placed in its stead is entertainment dressed up like a dolled-up whore which the zombified american public has been hypnotized to believe is "news" when in actuality it is just entertainment.opinion generated conflict in order to create a dramatic soap opera where americans can enjoy their mac-n-cheese on tv trays and nod their heads in drooling supplication to their corporate (insert name here) god.

how do you control a population of supposed "free society"?
you cant have the midnight knock.
nor can you black bag every dissenting voice.
no no...
you control how they think.
you control their opinion.

let us consider a few points:
1.the media is the NUMBER ONE lobbyist.
not big oil.
not big pharma.
but the media.
2.with almost 3000 media outlets in the USA yet only FIVE owners.(thank you cuntface michael powell!)
that is one mighty powerful megaphone to influence the opinions of a population.
and its works....brilliantly.just look at some of the comments here.

@chingalera has pointed this out in his usual colorful manner and is spot on.

independent news media is the only way to go if you are looking for actual journalism.

@shinyblurry do not get caught in the trap my friend.do not rely on corporate "news" to enlighten you concerning the situation in the middle east nor the origins of the anymosity towards america.truth does not suit their purposes in controlling your opinion.

vaire2ube says...

this cat i was watching after it got treated at the vet, had a victorian collar, and passed out from the medication with its head in the bowl.... i thought it was still eating so i petted it and it woke up and ran all around like a maniac until it passed out again drooling... i wiped that drool and talked it through the trip... it wouldnt blink for hours, i had to pet its nose to make it blink.

YouTube-like McDonald's Breakfast Review - 1984!

grinter says...

That was creepily like a youtube review.
...and now I'm going to rant for a second: Why do people have to do such a shitty job reviewing things on youtube. When I'm trying to figure out whether I want to buy 'this thing' or 'that thing', I want to hear a discussion of features, build quality, and performance. I don't want to hear you try to read something off of the box it came from, which you clearly don't understand because you haven't used the 'thing' yet, and I really don't want to hear more than one sentence (perhaps of the run-on variety) about how it's packaged. Review the damned 'thing'; don't just drool over your new toy! OH, and figure out how to focus your f$^king camera. -the end.

Dog Needs To Hold Hands While Driving

dannym3141 says...

@kceaton1 - bit of an over harsh critique there i felt. We don't know for sure that he didn't try and get the dog accustomed to the car normally but he just kept being scared, front or back. No point forcing the dog to be terrified when all he wants is a bit of affection/security from something which must be utterly freaky to a dog...

I personally believe the dog whisperer is spot on about being a pack leader. With a pack of dogs. If you've got one, you need to form a balance between pack leader and friend that you're happy with and the dog is comfortable with. Why else have a dog if you're not enjoying the company?

Also, a friend of mine has a dog like this called Blue. Has extremely blue eyes. It doesn't chew through stuff, and it's more or less the same as any dog i've ever had. It may be closer or further away from its natural wildness depending on what breeder you buy it from. And without a shadow of a doubt it depends how you raise it.

I believe there's a happy point between pack leader and best friend that gives both me and my dog the most out of living together, and i also believe there is more than one way to raise a dog correctly. One's rules are not necessarily better than the other, because the desires are different.

Eg. My mum has no discipline over her dogs, they run about, go crazy, drool over food right next to your face while you eat... she's not a pack leader, but she likes having dogs with a "personality" as she calls it, so that's what she wants. The dogs are definitely happy

Eg2. I give my dog his own lead to "walk himself" home. He loves carrying it and you might criticise me for giving him the symbol of power. But actually he listens to me better when he can carry his own lead than if i walk him on the lead - by now i know my dog better than any expert

This post is also way too long.
