Baseball's Nostradamus

HenningKO says...

Well, let's see if we can do the math... like a Drake's equation of baseball:

[typical at-bats per-game: 3] x [chance of hitting in any one at-bat: Tuiasasopo's AVG is ca 0.2] x [chance a Tui hit will be a homerun: ca 0.08 (1/12, this is the most arguable stat, he's still green, and before this HR, the chance would've been 0!)] x [chance the count will be 3-1 when you go for it: I dunno, but there are only 7 possible counts and THIS is a hitter's count: if you're gonna go for it this would be a favorable count to do it: ca. 0.2] x [chance it'll go left field: pretty good if you're a right-handed hitter: but to be conservative, 0.5] x [chance it'll go to the second deck: dunno, but it didn't fulfill this particular part of the prophecy, so let's call it a wash: 1] = 0.0048, half a percent.

Blowers had about a 1/200 chance of getting his prediction right! Not bad.
But how many games did she say he's called?

Rep. Alan Grayson's Apology To Republicans

Hollow invective? Nope. It is an accurate description of what is being VOTED for in the United States congress, and what is being proposed to the American people as the 'only choice'. If you're a neolib like this vid jackass, then your perspective is simplistic... "If you vote against the Democrat plan then you're a murderer."
You can whine to me about 'hollow invectives' after demagougery like this BS stops getting upvotes from sifters. This stuff should be condemned by every sifter who still has two gangleon to rub together. But it isn't. Some of you are cheering it, saying it is 'truth', 'about time', yadda yadda yadda. For people who like to claim how enlightened, logical, and 'fair' you are - for shame. If that's what you really think, then you really are just a mosquito bite & a freckle away from being the next James von Brunn, or Harlan Drake.

Jesus Christ. I'm covered in freckles. What do I do in the face of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation? Assassinate an anti-abortionist or a pro-abortionist? I'm so confused... What did mom always say? Never put salt in your eyes.

I have been wanting to type the following for a long time. I just hope that I can compose the next few lines properly.
Shooting some one who stands no chance, no proper chance, in being given the option to defend themselves is the most base definition of cowardly. This goes for all things, most especially unmanned drones, and suicide bombings.
The days of a killer seeing what they have wrought are over. They have no understanding of how a persons dies. To actually see the wounding, the subsequent expulsion of vital fluids, the dilation of the victims pupils, and the contortions of pain, should be enough to know that killing any one is a complete waste.
If you cant get along in the collective then keep it to yourself. The sentence before this was typed by an individualist, secular humanist, and a Libertarian.
Violence does not solve any thing. Compromise, Education, and understanding is what the Republic was founded on. So that the "Crazies" could be heard. To the murderer, Fuck you for stifling free speech.

Well spoken, NordlichReiter.

As to the defensive ability of the victim, Jim Pouillon was elderly, overweight, and connected to an oxygen tank constantly, including at the time of his death. If anyone was helpless against an assailant, it was Jim Pouillon. However, Jim Pouillon would disagree. Jim believed that there was a group who was more defenseless, who was more worthy to be loved and defended: Babies.

The attitude of the friends and of Jim has been consistent towards James Drake. They wish to speak to him, to share with him the same world view and belief system held by Jim. They wish him all the Love and hope for his repentance, for truly, James Drake did no damage to Jim. (Jim was more than his flesh and his blood, and Jim knew this.) James Drake has damaged himself and the world for removing such a man from our presence.

Aliens Of The Deep - Mission To Europa

demon_ix says...

^Crake: Sub sends signal to the "nuclear torpedo", which is connected by wire to the surface landing module, which relays the signal to the orbiting craft, which uses the powerful antenna array to send it to Earth. Complex and one-way communication, but nothing NASA hasn't attempted to solve before. Unless they send it in metric...

^cybrbeast: I'm aware of the Drake Equation and it's implications on finding life within our own solar system. But when we're going specifically into places where we expect life to be possible, it's best to be too cautious than to assume there's nothing there, imo.
As for the likelihood of life under all that ice with no sunlight: If you watch the entire film, you see that they are in fact following a team of ocean explorers which take subs to the deepest parts man can survive in, in order to find new life, new species and understand how life survives there at all.
Europa is believed to have a molten core (which is the reason there's an ocean there at all, presumably), and is not just a big slab of ice. If that's the case, there might be Thermal Vents there, which allow life to exist on Earth in environments previously thought to be impossible.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, let's go on a mission to see if there's life on Europa, while actually preparing to find said life, and not just doing it to mark a checkbox and say "Europa? Meh, been there, done that, got the T-Shirt".

Instead of a cg walkthrough how about some real people saying that it has been acheived. The idea sounds pretty good, though.

I'm sure there will be follow-ups, this project was built within the last couple years.
