High School Senior Takes Book Banners To School

newtboy says...

ROTFLMFAHS!!! Triggered much!?

No, I think it’s disgusting the way Republicans groom and indoctrinate kids with intolerance and intentional ignorance.

As noted above, you do not know what the word “indoctrination” means.

Republicans want to eradicate any diversity in thought or action that doesn’t fit their tiny narrow mindset. Republicans want a world where children are taught early on that only cisgender white men are capable of leadership or honest success, and all others are peons or untouchables. That’s indoctrination.
Removing or hiding any diversity to force one “proper” whitewashed syllabus on all students is indoctrination.
Teaching religion or religious morals and ethics is indoctrination.

Teaching diversity is the opposite of indoctrination.

If you want your children to have most knowledge kept from them, to be indoctrinated with ignorance and intolerance, go ahead and send them to school in Afghanistan where your ideas are accepted, and stop trying to turn America into another failed theocracy.

If your ethics and morals are threatened by diversity, they are weak or non existent.
If your world viewpoint is threatened by knowledge, it is ignorant and immature.

If you want to make a real dent in child molestation, close religious schools and pull all Republican teachers who are more than twice as likely to be abusers than the general population, and keep getting caught doing it WHILE whining incessantly about “groomers”.

One more, who is Mark Foley, bob. Why do you know that name? It’s because he was caught molesting 16 year old male congressional pages for YEARS, with many many witnesses and proof, proof the Republican led congress hid and destroyed to shield him from prosecution for child porn. He is still a big wig in your party, still courted by your leaders (much like Epstein), still accepting massive donations from this serial child molester, still wining and dining him and begging for his support. Why? Because so many of them are also child molesters, more caught every week.
Republicans LOVE child molesters and vote for them constantly, almost never voting them out “just because they touched some children” or just because they “covered up for others touching and penetrating multiple children in their care for years allowing the abuse to escalate to hundreds of young victims.” (Jordan).

Remember, it’s a fact that every accusation you make is an admission….we all see it. Your whining about “indoctrination” is, like every complaint, simply more of your own self loathing. There are better ways to deal with that you might have been taught if only your school had been allowed to teach you.

GOP Purging Anyone Who Won't Embrace Trump's Election Lies

newtboy says...

What in the ever loving fuck are you talking about?
You mean they're upset that N Korea became a far more dangerous nuclear power under Tiananmen Trump, with multiple bomb and missile tests going unanswered, extending it's nuclear capabilities to be able to directly attack America and likely selling nukes to Iran while Trump dined with Kim and praised his dictatorial leadership? LMFAHS!

🤦‍♂️

So this is the kind of stupidity the right is spouting now, the nonsense only Trumpists are dumb and ignorant enough to swallow? Thanks for the heads up.

Democrats and Liz Cheney are crying that President Trump prevented a new conflict with North Korea. Don't worry, I'm sure Beijing Biden and his neoliberal cronies will start it.

6 Underground: Because Science Says So

Payback says...

Sometimes, even though dining at Mirazur and Noma is by far the preferred experiences, one just gets a hankerin' for a Big Mac.

Hmm.

I think of "Michael Bay"ishness as a bad thing in movies.

Explosions for no reason. Narrative leaps that make no sense except to get to the next action. Plot only serves as a device to get from one explosion/action scene to the next with no character development or originality whatsoever.

If you've outgrown your teens and still like Michael Bay, I honestly feel pity for you. There is a world of brilliant filmmaking out there you're missing for this immature pablum.

To paraphrase, another film: Mr. Bay, what you've just made is one of the most insanely idiotic movies I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent film were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational plot. Everyone in this theatre is now dumber for having watched to it. I award you no stars, and may God have mercy on your soul.

DOLKEN SPISER SURSTRØMNING!!!!

TRRazor says...

It's called Surströmming and it's essentially fresh hering put in strong brine, which causes the fish to ferment over the duration of 5-6 months.

During this process it produces acids, sulfits and carbon dioxide which all contribute to an obviously disgusting smell.

Usually it is only eaten outside and the can is opened far away from the dining table.

The Most Disturbing Painting

My Wife Knows Everything vs. The Wife Doesn't Know

Hiker Followed By Bears

Sagemind says...

I had a mother and two cubs move into our back yard for a week.
We had apple trees and they refused to leave until they had stripped all the trees.
The mother always kept the cubs at a distance, but the mother would come right up and stare into our dining room through the glass doors - of course this freaked the dog out.

One option was call wildlife services, and they treat bears like this in one way. Bears that move into housed areas are not afraid of people so they are put down. I decided to wait them out and not call.

In the end we managed to get them to leave by shooting at them with a pellet gun. Of course their hide is too thick for it to harm them. The mother did nothing when we shot at her, but when we decided to shoot at the cubs, (threatening them) the mother screamed at them and then bolted with them, and they didn't come back

Damage done?
No apples, not a real problem.
A scared dog who never wanted to sleep outside again.
Bear Feces - lots of it, cleaned up with shovels, lol.

Koala Mating Call

That may be the widest possible gap between the cuteness of an animal's look versus its sound.

A blind hunter's mouth might start watering expecting to dine on bacon.

Woman Refuses to Leave Uber Car

ChaosEngine says...

Sure, the car might not be flash and maybe you have to wait longer to get a ride and you can't book one in advance (at least, not in my experience), but at the very least you can expect to get to where you paid to be taken to.

They're still operating as a taxi and should be subject to the same regulations. McDonalds might not be fine dining, but I still expect the food to be edible and not poison me.

I think we agree on most of this, tbh

newtboy said:

1)Yes, but it's the recourse when your expectations aren't met that I'm discussing. Also, the base level of service is lower for Uber than a licensed taxi, no?

2)Yes, that's exactly what I mean...they aren't regulated taxis, they are basically operating illegally everywhere, but abused loopholes and used misrepresentation to gain a foothold, then grew too fast to control...or just were ignored until they took enough work from licensed taxi drivers, and now they're being considered 'too big to fail' and still allowed to operate in most places (not all). I would never use them for exactly that reason...as essentially black market taxis, I would expect little insurance against improper service or damage. It's not JUST the drivers, they also treat the rule of law with contempt. Why would one not expect them to treat customers with the same distain and carelessness?

Searing meat to hold in flavor is wrong? wtf

$1 to $1,000 Pizza in Times Square

Babymech says...

The $1k pie is just a low-class parody of fine dining - 'let's throw the most expensive shit we can find into a pile and eat it,' which coincidentally is the exact thinking of a monumentally hung over 16-year old with billionaire parents.

Still, I wish these two pizza places existed in my town. Not because I would want to eat at either of them, but because I want to explore the range of options the market would hopefully fill the space between the extremes with. There might be a time, let's say once a year or so, that I want to try a pizza that costs and is worth $50-$60. I kind of wish I had that option.

Also I want a place that serves pizza made from real pokemon.

Cats versus Ssscat compressed air blasts

lucky760 says...

"Surprise, pussy!"

Those all look like the same product. What is it?

Seems a lot of cats really like going into the sink. I'm lucky my cat is a bit vertically retarded. He seems never to realize how high he can jump and only spreads his filthy sticky white furs all over the goddamned dining table so they can fly up all into your food and fucking face when you sit down with a plate... but he almost never goes onto the counter.

The Man Who Grows Trees Into Chairs

xxovercastxx says...

I've been thinking about growing tree-chairs when I finally get settled in my own house, except I don't want to grow them and then cut them off the stump; I want to plant 4 saplings in the exact location the chair will always exist, form them into a bench or chair using the same techniques seen here, and then unbind them and let them continue to grow there permanently.

They may need a little trimming to keep the surfaces smooth (or maybe not if they're sat-in enough), but I like this idea more than growing a chair and then chopping it off to stick it in the dining room.
