missisippi burning-you get this straight shitkicker

poolcleaner says...

I watched this when I was bored as fuck in Oaklahoma during the summer of 2002 at my ex's grandma's house. It's too hot to go outside, let's watch grandma's VHS collection. 12 volumes of Conway Twitty specials, Once Upon a Time in the West (Sergio Leone: Henry Fonda and Charles fucking Bronson motherfucker), Breaker Breaker starring Chuck Norris, 9 to 5 starring tig ol bitties, and Mississippi Burning with the Gene HACK-man.

Yep. I watched Mississippi Burning, Once Upon a Time in the West and Breaker Breaker over and over AND OVER all summer in the back woods of Oaklahoma. And played shit tons of magic the gathering (and sex). Even now, when I play magic, all I think of is the word Shitkicker, semi truck car chases, dreary harmonica drifting over a desert, and Dolly Parton's tits (and femdom bondage).

White American culture, huh? This clip is awesome.

Why Do Aussie Trucks Have Bullbars?

ChaosEngine says...

Meh, you really don't. It's tough and not very tasty. Crocodile OTOH is delicious.

And he's not kidding about driving at night. Years ago, I drove from Sydney to Perth. I was always told not to drive at night, but one day the engine overheated a few hours from the nearest town. Got it going again, but had to drive in the dark for a few hours. Was lucky to miss a large desert red kangaroo, but unfortunately hit a wallaby. Pretty gruesome trying to extract it from the bullbars.

After watching this video I had to look up information about camels in Australia. Then I had to look up descriptions of eating camel meat.

Now I want to eat a camel.

Why Do Aussie Trucks Have Bullbars?

blackfox42 says...

Oh yeah, there is a large population of feral camels in the outback, creating a bit of a problem. Imported during the 19th century for transport across the deserts.

Had no idea what Bullbars were, but what really through me was that i didn't know there were camels in Australia.

Shockwave from huge explosion hits marine in Hummer turret

Lukio says...

As it takes place in a desert / arid climate with (by the looks) higher average temperature (probably around 30° C), the distance would be around 2.6km.

notarobot said:

About 7 seconds for the shock wave to hit so, at the speed of sound, the blast was a little over 2km away?

Someone stole naked pictures of me. This is what I did about

SDGundamX says...

Who said people don't have a right to privacy? In an ideal world people would respect that right. But we don't live in an ideal world do we? So it makes sense to assess the risks and take precautions.

Look at it from another perspective. If I constantly leave my house unlocked with all the ground floor windows open when I go out, do I deserve to be robbed? No. But through my actions have I made it exponentially more likely that I'm going to be robbed? Yes. Does that mean the robber should get a lighter sentence if caught? No. Could I have easily prevented the crime from happening by taking basic precautions? Yes. Does that mean the crime is my fault? No. But was I naive to think that no one would ever rob my house? Absolutely, unless I happen to live alone on a deserted island!

It sucks what happened to her. It's not her fault. She deserves justice and I hope they catch the person who did it. The point of my previous post was that anybody taking naked pics of themselves these days--particularly digital ones--is exponentially increasing their risk of a humiliating exposure. That's the reality, whether you think it is "stupid" or not. If a person is not comfortable with that level of risk, they shouldn't engage in the behavior. This in no way implies that a person who has taken naked pics of themselves doesn't deserve justice if they are victimized. But it does imply that they are a bit naive (or haven't been paying attention to current events) if they thought there was little risk in taking naked pics of themselves and posting them online (as this person apparently did on her Facebook page) given the current security situation on the Internet.

ChaosEngine said:

Sorry, but that's a stupid argument. Just because we live in a digital world doesn't mean people have any less right to privacy.

Or do you think people whose emails are hacked should have used snail mail?
What about all those idiots who use online banking?

Stop blaming the victim.

Then goons and encyclopedia dramatica made goof parodies which spawned the vine craze.

Brazil drought linked to Amazon deforestation - BBC News

Well, that's bad and is only getting worse, but they are FAR from alone.
For instance, while the reservoir they showed looked to be about 40-50ft below full, I recently drove over Lake Shasta in N California, and it looks to be 200-250ft low! This is also due to 'climate change', which is turning what has historically been a wet rain forest into a desert.
We are already having water wars in our state. They WILL become violent eventually. Our dwindling sources of water in the North are being diverted to the far south...and somehow they pay less for our water than WE do! WTF?!?
And we are quickly draining aquifers nation wide, making it harder and harder to drill a well IF you are allowed to.
And insanely, where fresh water is not becoming scarce, we seem to be intentionally contaminating it so it's unusable, both above and below ground.
Just don't fool yourselves into thinking this is only a third world problem...it is not. First worlders use MORE water than those in the third world.

Manowar Being Unbelievably Epic

gorillaman says...

A big part of the attraction of Manowar is that they'll produce something ridiculous (but great) while taking themselves totally seriously. They're an oasis in the cultural desert of hipsterish irony-wanking.
