Friday the 13th (2009) - Trailer for the Remake coming 2009

13356 says...

oh wow. another remake. i am so excited. how can we ever be satisfied with the crappy original attempt at any film ever...(day of the dead, dawn of the dead, invasion of the body snatchers (4 remakes),chainsaw massacre, omen, halloween to name but a few). remake citizen kane next and 2001 , and why stop there. theres a billion films we can shaft over the alter of no imagination. i really wish hollywood would start thinking about new ideas and stop remaking (or to use their language 'reimagining' [shudders in disgust])and have an original idea or at least have enough integrity to attempt to make the film not cash in on the reputation of another (call it something else for a start). light weight, plageristic, no talent, cynical money grabbing feckwits AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!. Michael Clayton is Not Negotiating

It's a shame this was downvoted. If you'd like to know why budzo downvoted this video, it seems he was upset with my comment above. Here's the ongoing conversation (starts at the bottom, which is the comment from above):

>> ^budzos:
Yeah well I've just read your little bitch rant about how people are inconsiderate and rude in theatres in L.A.
You're just another fucking hypocritical L.A. douchebag because you don't have much respect for the filmgoing experience either. I'd rather deliver unrequested vagina monologues than be an actual walking vagina.
In reply to this comment by blankfist:
I didn't ask for your vagina monologue.

>> ^budzos:
Welcome to my growing list of shitheads. I get really absorbed in movies and so the reason I haven't seen it yet is I was waiting for the right night when I could get properly absorbed in something a little smarter. I'm busy so those times are rare. Someone with Kubrick as their avatar should have more respect for that concept. So go fuck yourself, please.
In reply to this comment by blankfist:
You're welcome. The movie has been out for six months. I'm sure you'd be upset if someone ruined the end to Citizen Kane, too.
In reply to this comment by budzos:
Thanks dickhead.
In reply to this comment by blankfist:
Can anyone explain how Clayton knew the Counsel for UNorth was behind his assassination attempt? And also that was a spoiler, just FYI.

Quite comical, actually. Right after we had this disagreement, I checked his downvote queue and noticed he downvoted one of my videos right after he downvoted this one: http://www.videosift.com/member/budzos/voteddown - Haha. Spiteful much?

Orson Welles best film: Touch of Evil or Citizen Kane? discuss:

Like most film buffs, no question I recognize the genius and influence of Citizen Kane, but in more recent years I just keep watching Touch of Evil over and over again. Welles' characterization is a riveting personification of evil and moral and personal corruption- ranks up there with Javier Bardem's Chigurh and Day Lewis' Plainview. And that opening shot? Fugeddaboudit.

I Wouldn't Steal A Purse, But I Do Download Films

Farhad2000 says...

Downloading movies is immoral? Wow. Bit of a strech there ain't it?

Let's all admit one fact, good movies make alot of money regardless of pirating or not, bad movies don't make any money either way. Word of mouth is still the best way of getting to know good movies, and some movies simply have to be seen on the big screen, I regret not seeing Citizen Kane or Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen, but I bought both on DVD. Some movies I have no choice but download because frankly how else am I suppposed to see an arthouse Hungarian flick in the Middle East or Central Asia? the distribution model doesn't exist to cover viewers like me.

I believe the problem still inherently lies in an old distribution model trying to making money in a digital age, look at how the RIAA deals with their consumers their business model to this day. They need to rethink the market totally, some signs are already there, in Russia rampant piracy has forced companies to publish DVDs on the market very quickly to make back revenue from piracy, that works really well in a nation were piracy is rampant. These are the so called R9 rips that have Russian and English audio tracks.

I still think pulling down clips off Youtube is a stupid way to deal with piracy, there are countless old and new movies I watched because of clips or trailers up online, its free marketing. Pure online distribution should be readily taken up by the studios, as well as multi format releases occuring across several formats at the same time, cinema, Pay TV, rental and online (spreading revenue potential across alot more markets). Special DVD releases after 3 or so months would supplement that, HellBoy and Pitch Black made almost no money at the box office but DVD sales proved lucrative.

However re-thinking the model is harder and more risky then simply blaming piracy, but the problem won't go away at all especially with increasing digitization of the cinema format as a whole.

'Waiting' - Don't fuck with people who handle your food

kronosposeidon says...

Calvados, I have to agree with you that the movie is chowderheaded. Any movie with Dane Cook in it virtually guarantees that, regardless of how small a role he has. If Citizen Kane had even included one frame with Dane Cook in it (if it were somehow possible to put Dane Cook in a time machine and then into a frame when they were editing it), then it would be one of the worst movies of all time and have destroyed Orson Welles' career. However I liked this particular scene because it's not just funny, but also true.

And let's put Dane Cook in a time machine anyway. Then blow it up.

What's your opinion on Ann Coulter? - http://www.videosift.com/video/Ann-Coulter-Brainless

I just got through watching Hot Fuzz no more than two minutes ago. It was a lot funnier than Shaun. Just didn't like horror and comedy mixed together - it didn't work. But then again I went through both movies not being able to appreciate 90% of the British wit.

In reply to your comment:
Sadly it was Citizen Kane. Only joking! Yeah what would you like saved, I will be your saviour!

Plan 9 from outer space-Worst film of all time-Now in Color!

k8_fan says...

Any fan of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" knows one thing: not only is "Plan 9 From Outer Space" NOT the worst film of all time, it's not even in the top twenty. "Manos: The Hands of Fate" makes this film look like "Citizen Kane" by comparison. The reputation this film has is entirely the work of right-wing film critic Michael Medved and his brother, who happened to own a print.

Citizen Kane - How to Run a Newspaper

Farhad2000 says...

When I was a young and foolish man I baulked at the ancient opening of Citizen Kane and gave up watching within the first 3 minutes, over the years the drone of how great this film was never died around me. So finally I took the plunge one day and sat through it again strapped to my chair, hoping not to be dissappointed at some ancient relic claiming status it doesn't rightfully deserve.

However it was turned into a shocking revelation that such a film was made in the 40s.

I don't know what appeals to me more, the technical achievements in camera shots and set up or the convoluted plot following the last utterance of a man the viewer tries to understand from the perspectives and narratives of many people.
