I know it's already in the tags, but red Reebok hi-tops and a white sweat band can only mean *80s!

As for Knopfler, his virtuosity and musicianship are impeccable. Some of his best is, imho, the country music he's recorded... check out the "Notting Hillbillies", his album with Chet Atkins is superb, and his more recent projects with Emmylou Harris are stunning.

I aim to play the heart-strings. I actually thought of pm'ing you about that one, and this one (http://www.videosift.com/video/Chet-Atkins-Medley-on-Johnny-Cash-show) 'cause of your "fingerpickin' good" list, but never got around to it. Chet is one of the good guys.
