Trump Administration in Turmoil Amid New Russia Allegations

newtboy says...

Winning!

When are we going to see Gary Busey and Flavor Flave competing for a cabinet position?

This fake president can't seem to keep a single rational thought in his head, and his administration of yes men is doing nothing to help by just repeating his insanity and pretending it's rational.

So, republicans....how DID you gain all the weight?

The Bizarre Far-Right Billionaire Behind Trump's Presidency

newtboy says...

Oh no, sir. I KNOW he lied repeatedly, he wrote a book about how to get ahead by lying.
On the other side, as you put it (and you missed me screaming for months that there aren't only two horrendous choices) was a normal, underhanded, misdirecting politician.

Email cover-up? Really? What crime was she covering, now that we have seen them all....none. Was she transparent about it, no, but as evidence that Trump is at least as bad on that front if not worse....tax returns is all I need say.
Pay for play, after Devos blatantly bought a cabinet position you would actually blindly make that claim with no evidence? Let me guess, you're afraid of the fish people Alex Jones told you about too. Is she corrupt, yes, is she corrupt compared to a man that's screwed over every business partner he's ever had and the taxpayer by intentionally bankrupting his companies repeatedly by hiring and massively overpaying other Trump companies, using that method to steal all funds and assets and build up massive debt, then declaring bankruptcy, stiffing his partners and creditors, and walking away (or in a few cases doing it over before being forced to leave), no. By comparison she's above reproach. Clinton may fit the definition of corrupt, but the word barely covers the insane backstabbing, admitted and repeated bribery (remember he claimed to have bought numerous politicians by bribing them, he thinks it's how government works), and theft from his partners that Trump is proud of.

So yes, tissue paper thin glass snow globe......

So you are really basing this all off of the notion you THINK Trump lied to get elected. Lets just assume for a second he did, not that I do or don't think so, but lets just ASSUME he did...

What was on the other side of the ballot? Pure-as-the-driven-snow candidate HRC? Madam email cover-up? The Queen of Pay-for-Play? The DEFINITION of currupt politicians?

So yes, Glass Houses...

Jim Jefferies tells Piers Morgan to Fuck Off

Maher forgot to list Ben Carson as one of the deplorable Cabinet nominations. The man was honest at first -- said he didn't have the experience or the skills to do the job. Then SOMETHING happened to change his mind. Gives me the dry heaves, this does.

Ending Free Speech-Elizabeth Warren Silenced In Senate

moonsammy says...

"No Senator in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator.”

Wait, so does that mean that any senator put forward as a nominee for a cabinet position can't be accused of any "conduct or motive... unbecoming of a Senator" during their confirmation hearings? Nice way to keep all the dirt nice and hidden, or at least not mentioned in a highly public manner.

I would assume this rule was designed to prevent Senators from fighting with each other during Senate proceedings, and to stick to policy matters. Sessions at the time of his hearing was present as a cabinet nominee. Why would the rule apply when he isn't there as a Senator? The purpose of the hearings is to learn enough about the nominees to provide some solid Advice and Consent to the larger group. Hard to do that when nothing negative can be said, or the person saying it will be silenced.

Donald Trump will never be President of the United States

SaNdMaN says...

Good one there! "I know you are but what am I?!"

Trump is not afraid to lead? What's he leading in exactly?

An idiotic, poorly thought out travel ban that won't help anything?

Mouthing off to our allies, making us look like idiots? (Mexico will pay for the wall... wait, maybe not, but they'll pay 20% tariffs.... well actually the Americans will be the ones paying... sounds like a solid plan everyone!)

Appointing unqualified cabinet members? Rick Perry for energy secretary.... the department he wanted to destroy... the department that he had no idea manages our nuclear stockpiles... the department whose previous leader under Obama was a nuclear physicist. It's now Rick fucking Perry.

The only thing he's leading in is in being the most embarrassing statesman this country has ever seen, arguing with celebrities on Twitter like a child. This moron was actually ranting about Schwarzenegger and The Apprentice ratings in his National Prayer Breakfast speech. All he had to do was just recite a short passage from the bible or something. But nope, not him. He needs to ask like a 12 year old.

We have a 70-year-old man, who also happens to be THE PRESIDENT, who can't control himself and act the part. He really has a few screws loose. There's no other explanation. But we did give him the nuclear codes! Yaay!

Leader - my ass. (Besides, it's Bannon leading him anyway.)

And you have the mind set of a fool.

Obama was a failure with no leadership on real issues
HE always lead from behind.

Trump is not afraid to lead.

glenn greenwald-no evidence of russian hacking

newtboy says...

Keep in mind, it's not JUST the CIA making these claims, it's an unprecedented combined report from (I think) 14 separate (EDIT: 17) intelligence agencies. Yes,they may be colluding but it's not likely.
Recall, the intelligence reports leading to the Iraq war were edited and misstated by the Bush cabinet and we've now seen that the full reports were not certain about evidence of WMDs.
Putin's own MO is evidence that, if there was Russian government involvement, it was at his direction. If it were done behind his back, there would be a number of computer scientists gone missing by now.

In short, don't blindly trust any agency, but don't distrust conclusions reached by all intelligence agencies combined, or pretend that the public report is all they have....most evidence possible would be classified (like a bug in Putin's office recording him ordering hacks, we would never hear about that proof).
Should we be skeptical, yes, should we dismiss the reports because we don't get to see classified proof, no. Should we find a way to declassify the proof, absolutely, the public's trust in the nation's intelligence community hangs in the balance.

TIM KAINE Questions Betsy Devos For Secretary of Education

newtboy says...

The fail is strong with this one. She's shown pretty convincingly why buying cabinet positions should be a felony, just like buying politicians (which she admitted she and her family have done to the tune of $200000000). She is a good test to see if the right will just go along with any insanity Trump decides on or if they plan on doing their job and representing their constituents, because putting this woman in charge of anything is asking for failure.

Russian Hacking and Trump Ethics: A Closer Look

kceaton1 says...

May I be the first to say to those older than me OR my same age (and younger even still)... If you do NOT understand computers, devices, the Constitution, history, politics (without the need for backstabbing), and being able to commit and fulfill an actual public office without taking bribes (though politicians like to use that money for their re-elections, and most certainly is never a bribe...NEVER...)...

If you don't understand at least some sort of bare minimum we should develop before people can actually run and ALSO take on civic duties. Trump seems to think computers are *magic* and are literally IMPOSSIBLE for ANYONE to know how they work. Remind me again how in the hell he got into office...?

Oh yeah, the same people that actually have this same issue voted him into office as well. This is why Snowden is charged with Espionage (how?), rather than a guy just following his Constitutional duty (which he was charged with twice over, in the Military and in the NSA...).

Good luck with your new version of "hope and change", based on ignorance, so bad that this ignorance believes it's impossible to overcome its own self-deceptions and deceptions created by others. The perfect "tools" for Russia to have in office (along with the perfect idiots to have in office, so Trump's cabinet picks can also break us too).

the rubin report-don't freak out about trump

enoch says...

jesus, could we all stop with the histrionics already?

there are reasons why trump won,and it certainly was not because he is a decent human being,he is not,he is a terrible human being.

so if you are going to assume what kind of president he is going to be based solely on his emotionally,super-charged rhetoric, then you are..by definition..pre-judging.

i do not know what kind of president he is going to be,and neither do you.

i suspect it going to be in the area of horrifying and bumbling buffoon, but we won't know until he gets in office.

all rubin is pointing out is that there are some positives, and freaking out does nothing, and is based on assumption.

but chew on this for a minute.
both the democrats and republicans HATE trump and the fact he won has scared the living shit out of both parties.the political elite just got kicked in the balls.

i have been watching in horror as trump began to surround himself with some of the most vile, and opportunistic people:gingrich, gulliani, christie, and let us not forget the christian supremacist mike pence.

yet two days ago pence cleared all the lobbyist choices trump had made for positions in his cabinet.they are calling it the "pence purge".was this a political ploy to stick with the "drain the swamp" meme?

sure..that is possible.
but it is still a good sign.

and rubin brings up a good point in regards to trump.he likes being popular and loved.while i find this narcissistic and childish, and not a quality i want in a president,it does offer a window where normal people can apply pressure to his presidency, and that is no small influence.

hey,i get it,trump is a bumbling buffoon who is a terrible human being, but he won't be this countries first awful human being to hold the presidency.

and we really do not know what kind of president he is going to be.so all rubin is saying is:remain cautiously optimistic.

i say:be cautiously optimistic, but prepare for the worst.

because many people have concerns, and i think those concerns are valid.i suspect that a trump presidency will rival the bush era, possibly worse, but i could be wrong.not the first time i was wrong.

so this could all manifest in a pleasant surprise..or a horrible nightmare, but we won't know until trump actually takes over the job.

holy fuck this guy's an idiot. No one is prejudging trump,We are judging him on the things he has already said and done. Trump stood on a stage and mocked someone's disability. While thousands laughed and cheered. This tells you everything you need to know about him and his supporters. Stop normalizing this vile repulsive "thing".
