Wasn't really any sleuthing to it. I remember a couple of the incidents and just needed to find a reference. WP was the first place I looked and that was all I needed.

Holy Crap! A Full Auto 12 Gauge Shotgun With Magazine!
I was under the impression that the Geneva convention forbids the military using shotguns on personnel. Maybe that only applies to particular ammunition like buckshot though. Not that anyone gives a damn about the Geneva convention anymore anyways.
I have the biggest damn shotgun in the friggin world in my closet damnit!!!! (Blog Entry by swampgirl)
No, I wouldn't consider myself part of "gun culture"... I do believe I have the right to defend my family in my own home. My rant here was from a day of reading nasty comments towards Heston during a tribute for him I was attempting.
My shotgun? It actually belonged to my Dad. Growing up in a rural southern area (SC USA), it was always loaded with buckshot to take out rattlesnakes around the yard.
My dad gave most of his guns to my brothers when he was sick, but still held onto the shotgun.
On his deathbed a week before he passed, he gave the shotgun to my husband. It meant a lot to him... to both of us.
It it always unloaded, with no shells near by for curious ones to find
Real-Life Bambi and Thumper
hmm, let's see: 12 gauge, 3 1/2" 000 buckshot, extra full choke. yup, I could get them both in one shot.

But, that's buckshot. Birdshot, maybe. Buckshot pellets are much larger.

What I would like to know is how he was able to get buckshot into a .22 cartridge.
Unless there's a new ammo I've not heard of, methinks the story is fucked up.

^ Well I'll be a monkey's uncle!
It does exist!

.22 buckshot? I'm with MG that's a load of felgergarb. Unless they're making really tiny shot pellets just for bees.

"I've got a shotgun. Do you want me to stop 'em?"
By the way, I'd like to reiterate that: he shot the guys OUTDOORS. WITH A SHOTGUN. DURING DAYTIME. IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD.
If some stray buckshot had hit a neighborhood child I have a feeling some people here might be singing a different tune.
Mythbusters - Shooting Fish In A Barrel...To the EXTREME
Well there are only so many popular myths to explore before one runs out.
This was actually a very cool episode. They, of course, looked into the phrase "easy as shooting fish in a barrel". Using both a 9mm and a shotty with some buckshot and a mechanized fish in a wooden barrel--it was indeed easy to shoot fish in a barrel. The cool part came when they realized how easy it actually was. Turns out that you don't even have to shoot the actual fish for it to die. The shockwave from the bullet hitting the water alone is enough to kill every fish in the barrel, regardless of where the bullet goes. I'd forgotten how many g's the shockwave registered, but they put 3 of those ever mythbuster-popluar shock stickers inside the barrel and one 9mm shot tripped them all.
Pretty cool.
Squirrel Melts
> I don't understand if that's for real or not.
It was definitely a real blast of atomized squirrel blood as the buckshot shreded the little fella.
Wes Craven's "Scream"
Has anyone else ever imagined a slasher movie where the masked murderer calls, announces his presence menacingly, and then breaks through the glass door just in time to catch two rounds of double-ought buckshot square in the chest from his would-be victim's 12-gauge? Hmmm....
