Can we start a national blackballed cop list for cops who are forced to leave the job for abuse, so they don't just go to the next precinct? They should be barred from security guard jobs too.

Her private message to him was somewhat appropriate (but showed her lack of maturity to have gone through the bad date, slept with him, actually gone to sleep in bed with him, and only later decides it was unacceptable). Going public with a bad date and pretending it's a "me too" sex abuse story was outrageous imo, and only (severely) harms the anti sex abuse movement. He may have deserved blue balls, not to be blackballed.

I like Sam, but I think she's on the wrong side of this one. It's 100% up to the woman to communicate her discomfort clearly, not on men to pick up non verbal cues of discomfort given in the dark while they're also giving verbal cues to continue. She never said stop, she said slow down, which means continue, but slower. Verbal cues trump non verbal cues 99.999% of the time.

If I were a hockey player, and another player took a swing at me and broke my nose, could I have them charged with assault? I don't see why not.

I'm sure there's a never-mentioned clause in their contracts that tries to prevent that, but that certainly wouldn't stand up in court. Of course, the player would be blackballed for it. There will come a day, though, when in the NHL one of the enforcers will forget to adequately pull his punches and the other player will be seriously maimed. If I were that player, I'd at least go for a civil suit against the league. Maybe contracts mean more in that case, but it would be the most likely way to see an end to the suits encouraging fights.

This is almost saying that until the 1990s and the purported age of the 'super model' women did not use their sexual allures to their own advantage.

I think that the 'super model' preceded the 1990s by at least three decades that I can think of--Twiggy in the 1960s and to a lesser extent Edie Sedgwick, who was basically blackballed from the business due to her wild lifestyle.

And, as was noted above, this is fantasy, and we can push the envelope of fantasy much farther now than we could back in the 1950s, so a lot of this is an example of cultural evolution rather than newfound methods of exploitation.

Apparently she's been on the short list for over 30 years, and was presumably blackballed by this official every time. I think it may have had something to do with her science fiction writing, as it was such a departure from her earlier work, but that's just speculation on my part.

As much as I'd love to just blackball IE, the vast majority of web users (even here on the Sift) are IE users. I don't think we will ever see a day when MS will adhere to all standards (on and off the web), but we have a responsibility to all Sifters to offer the best possible Siftsperience.
