Bikini Clad Barista Throws Boiling Water On Flasher

Forehead Tittaes w/ Marion Cotillard

You can dress however you want, but understand there are consequences for your choices. When you go out to clubs, bars, or even just around town during the day, go ahead and show off that body you are proud of. You want to feel attractive, and that's cool. It doesn't really matter if the barista sees you as a professional or as a tart.
However, in the workplace women need to cover that cleavage if they want to be taken seriously. Unless you are purposefully trying to distract men and make them underestimate you, there is no reason to show cleavage or have that dress shirt open down to your sternum. Similarly, tight clothing serves no purpose.
This discussion keeps popping up every now and then. There are some women who want to have their cake and eat it too. Either you sexualize yourself in the workplace, or you don't. It's really your choice as to how to arrange your clothes, hair, and makeup. You don't get to look hot and then complain that men can't focus on business. It's just dumb, and I'm tired of hearing the complaint.

Yep. Unfortunate but true. My girl has great boobs but doesn't dress in a way to play them up. Never heard her make this specific complaint. She has plenty of other groans about guys, but not that one.

The making of a gourmet espresso

9547bis says...

Where was I? Ho, yeah, stuff he didn't mention (because he's a barista and doesn't have to deal with it): get fresh coffee. It's the most basic, yet most important change you can make to your intoxicating drinking habit. Whatever the type of machine you have, from plastic-y kitchen espresso machine to semi-pro behemoth, or even if you don't drink espresso and are, say, on drip brew (at least get a French press, for God's sake), this is the change you will notice the most. See that coffee with a use-by date two years from now at the supermarket? It's not fresh. The one twice the others' price in a fancy tin box? Not fresh. And the ones in vacuum packing? not fresh either. Buy fresh coffe. Get it from a local shop. It won't even cost that much.

the story of your decade in 3 paragraphs or less (History Talk Post)

peggedbea says...

i'll start.

10 years ago i was turning 17, drunk at inflatablevagina's house party off of hot damn and jager, i attempted to go on a cow hunt in the pasture behind her house with all my drunk boyfriends, we got scared, did a group piss around a tree, didnt find any cows. insulted her frankenstein-like boyfriend. got in a fist fight with a marine.

a few months later we (inflatablevagina and i) got kicked out of our first apartment for hosting a brothel, i ran away to denver with another friend, lived in a car for a while, spent a year drunk and stoned on a mountain top and traveling around the west having an existential crisis. somehow woke up one morning and realized i had somehow become the host house for interstate traveling ravers seeking parties in the rockies, hazy memories of debauchery flooded back into my brain, promptly moved back to texas, met a beautiful crazy man, had his baby, married him. had another one of his babies, he quit taking his meds and went really really really fucking crazy, left him for good, bought a house, took 8 years worth of xrays. had some personal trauma. had some personal triumph. embraced a broken heart, lived in poverty, got disowned at least 5 times, read alot of books. battled alcoholism internally and externally, philosophized with friends, experienced loss. experienced joy, became subject to gravity, reveled in inertia, lost momentum, was ruled entirely by emotion and impulse, embraced metaphor, was misunderstood, reunited, gave back, took, volunteered my time, attempted to mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally available, acted irrationally, behaved selfishly, felt whole sometimes, self-taught, fell in love, stepped in infatuation, gave birth. was a mommy. was a wife. was a tattoo supply delivery girl, was a barista. was a pizza maker. was an xray tech. was a massage therapist. was an insomniac. took in my crazy teenage cousin, dated an old friend, reconciled some family shit. lost my mind, traveled alot, lived simply and briefly caught a hold on inner peace, lost it, went crazy, quit taking xrays, went back to school, embraced the amazingness of unemployment. learned to bake, invented some recipes, had some ideas. ate some cookies. raised some amazing babies. raised some cool ass quirky talented kids, paid alot of bills. abandoned all laws of grammar. flirted with internet addiction, smoked 99999999 packs of cigarettes. and several hundreds bowls, made a sift talk post.

hot chocolate toppings: marshmallows vs whipped cream (User Poll by peggedbea)

mintbbb says...

I just have to respond, since until recently I was a Starbucks barista (OK, so it got really stressful, and my boss left, and I just wasn't going to stay after that...)

But if you like hot chocolate, and have a sweet tooth, please try SB's signature hot chocolate, especially the one formerly known and 'salted caramel signature hot chocolate'. I don't really like their regular HC. It is too chocolaty and not sweet enough for me. The signature hot chocolate is 'European style' - which I don't get, but oh well.. It is a lot sweeter and creamier (a base that is made every day).

ANYWAY, what used to be the 'salted caramel signature hot chocolate' - which I am now calling SCHC has the signature hot chocolate PLUS toffee nut syrup (which I LOVE! So good on top of vanilla ice cream) and thry put caramel drizzle on top of the whipped cream. It used to have a sea salt topping but not any more. Sea salt topping sounds disgusting (maybe), but it was a mixture of hawaian smoked sea salt and cane sugar (or something like that) and it brought out the sweetness of the caramel. It was like having 'caramel pretzel Crunch' from Sheridan's Frozen Custard! (The only Sheridan's here closed But it was a micture of vanilla custard, which is super soft ice cream, pretzels and caramel, all mixed together.

Okies.. Just wanted to mention the caramel signature hot chocolate.. It costs a bit more than a regular hot chocolate, but it is soooo much better. You can also have that with espresso.. Ask for espresso truffle, and say you want the caramel version.. make sure they put Toffee nut syrup in it!

That kind of tautology is not good enough for me. Bring on the fucking robot overlords because I'm losing my faith in collective humanity. I think the purposely set bush fires here is Australia are on my mind too. Different magnitude, same human dysfunction.

Why do humans need to fuck things up, kick over sand castles - etc?

Because we are humans.

It is sad the actions of few will sometimes end up in a catastrophy.. Most people I meet, just in my pathetic barista job are nice, friendly kind. And there are always some who just don't get it..

Some who think THEY are special, or at leats that they'd need special treatment. Who need attention... who bring their drink back 5 times, just because they changed their mind. Not because we made it wrong. But just because they know we'd make it over if they came back and complained. It is not the general human nature.. Something has gone wrong, and they just have to get attention, or lash out, or something..

Lashing out is not the way to do it though! I am sorry, but if you prove to be that volatile and untrustworthy, maybe because 'this is only an online thingy'.. NO! Go away, stay away! I will not trust you to be back! You have issues, well, so do I, and most people. We just don't go around and wreak havoc, or whatever the correct english might be.

Just ban him. Ban him and we never have to worry about HIM any more. God forbid, we might have otrher people with issues.

But just keep in mind: This is not the way to do it. This might be an online community, but we are real people, and we don't want to get hurt! You might not know anybody personally, but you are hurting REAL people with stupid, childish actions.

Maybe you think we are childish to care about something silly like queued videos and subsciptions.. But we do, just like you cared whether you were liked or not.. And believe me, you would have bene liked, like any normal person has you just been NICE!

WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT BEING NICE??

End of rant for now.. I need sleep, and yes, I did get a drink, or two.. Not that I am feeling that much better.

Merry Christmas Happy Harradays (Food Talk Post)

Merry Christmas! And *Please* be kind to your barista (salesperson/ food service worker/whoever is working hard!), or they will get a bazooka for Xmas from Santa and come and get you January 1st!

"Venti" does NOT mean large

mizila says...

Totally agree with soulmonarch here. My brother happens to be a barista, and can tell you anyone ordering a "large" gets the big cup. It's pretty simple. I myself say large whenever I get dragged into one of these places, and don't expect any lip from the help. If ever I do (and now I hope I do), I will gladly repeat this, and hope they don't recognize it from the movie Role Models.

Starbucks Giving Free Coffee To Voters Tomorrow

^Sounds like you need a new job if you go home and cry because people are mean. That shouldn't happen. In general, I think most people are nice and friendly. But some people are assholes and you'll always get those from time to time. If you can't deal with that (and I'm not saying that it's easy, because I use to be a barista as well so I know exactly what you're talking about) then I suggest you work somewhere where you don't have to deal with pricks like that - one of the reasons I quit.

Starbucks Giving Free Coffee To Voters Tomorrow

mintbbb says...

Let me vent a tiny bit, not about politics, but about people in general.. I work in a Starbucks, but one in a Target store. I am trained by Starbucks, I serve Starbucks, and I have a Starbucks district manager who comes to check on my store at least once a month. But I am employed by Target, and Target is the store that sets the rules for *my* Starbucks.

Target Starbucks are usually not part of any of the Starbucks special offers. Target Starbucks was not part of this 'vote and we will give you a free coffee' thing. But people came by and asked if they get a free coffee from us. They argues with us. My team lead said we'd rather give them a free coffee and have people happy with us, than having them curse at us and go elsewhere to get their free coffee.

Yes, most people were nice this morning. They said 'Thank you so much!' and 'You are so nice!' when we gave them their coffee. But what gets me are the people who are NEVER happy! We say 'A free tall coffee', and they say 'Oh, I want the new gingerbread twist for free!' . They say 'Oh, I don't drink coffee, can I just get a hot chocolate instead?'

And we have to say 'sorry, no'. It isn't that we want to be mean to people! It isn't that we are not giving away free stuff, especially when we are not even part of the program. But coffee isn't that expensive, and we want to make people happy! But we can't be making free whatever drinks to everybody! Why are there so many people who still aren't happy? So many people who just want to argue with you and get a free special latte instead of a coffee?

Maybe you think I am being ridiculous, and overly sensitive. But I get so many people who think that *I* personally make the coffee cost so much that they think it is OK to scream at me when I just want to charge what my cash register is set to charge!

If you don't want to pay $1.65 for your regular cup of coffee, please feel free to go elsewhere. I am not setting the price myself. If you don't want to have a free cup of coffee today, always served with a smile, but want something fancier instead, please go somewhere else.

I am being as nice as I can, and I understand that you might have a bad day, but don't take it out on me! I am doing a great job! And then I go home at night and cry because people are mean.

Just go vote! It shouldn't be about a free coffee, and please be nice to your barista!
