newtboy jokingly says...

Wow. The head of the RNC Laura Trump claims to have lawsuits in 81 states. Impressive! Republicans are so anti American now that their leadership has no idea how many states exist! 81!?! 😂
They are so incompetent don’t have offices open in most states, including swing states! Down ballot candidates are 100% on their own…just that shit covered cinder block that is Trump hanging around their neck as they run for office against fit candidates without baggage. 😂

She also claimed on air that they have inserted RNC operatives into election offices and they will physically be handling and examining and objecting to votes as they come in…which is 100% illegal. Not smart to telegraph that election fraud scheme so early that they can be discovered and prosecuted before the election, but it’s maga, you’re never smart.

Then she goes on to say they will have lawyers stationed at polls, to prosecute any democrats they catch cheating. (Apparently she’s unaware that every vote fraud in the last 8 years was a Republican cheating to help Trump.). Not only is that not how the law works, lawyers don’t do the investigation, it’s also 100% illegal election interference and voter intimidation, and it’s unlikely any actual lawyers would volunteer for something so obviously guaranteed to lose them their license if they’re caught.

Meanwhile in Florida Trump’s lawyers have admitted the FBI never searched a secret hidden room in Trumps bedroom hidden behind a dresser with a secret door, essentially begging the FBI to come raid Mar a Lago again because they missed the most important secret hidden areas (after being told in sworn statements that all documents were accounted for and turned over).

Meanwhile in AZ 18 co conspirators in the election fraud scheme were indicted by a grand jury including the election integrity officer for the RNC who was just indicted on charges of violating election integrity. Far right media won’t cover this story, because they know how awful it is that more MAGA election fraud is FINALLY being prosecuted. Trump is named as (so far) unindicted coconspirator #1 in that indictment.

Meanwhile in DC Trump’s lawyers argue that unless the law used to prosecute the president includes a special provision allowing the law to be applied to the president it cannot be applied and the president is above that law, unprosecutable even after impeachment, and argued that any crimes committed to close to the end of their term to be impeached before leaving office are gimmes…completely unprosecutable under any circumstances, this includes fomenting a coup, murder, rapes, theft, disclosing state secrets….literally anything. They argue that a president is an emperor above all laws and untouchable. If true, Biden will have Trump assassinated November 3rd, then step down on the 8th before impeachment but after winning the election to give Harris the reigns. 😂

Meanwhile in New York Trump was served with more violations of the gag order while he was awaiting the ruling on the first 10 violations of the gag order…so it’s likely he’ll be fined for those and told any more he goes to jail, and he’s already violated it multiple times since his hearing.

Also meanwhile in New York his latest attempt to get a new trial or set aside the Carrol judgement for no legitimate reason was denied. The “L”s just keep coming!

Trump is sueing his partners/cofounders at truth social attempting to steal their stock. Is anyone surprised? Trump screws over everyone who gets in bed with him, badly, usually by not paying them or bankrupting the venture.
(Edit: the judge who presided over the merger is “gobsmacked” that he lied about having any claims so he could judge shop his lawsuit and has said he’s considering sanctions.)

It’s exactly what he’s doing to the Republican Party. Fundraising is flat across the board since he installed his family into leadership rolls so they could rob it blind.

Major donors don’t want to fund don’s legal bills (isn’t he a billionaire? Why can’t he pay for his own lawyers?) but they can’t donate to the RNC without at least half going directly to Habba, and the rest going to pay don’s family exorbitant salaries for tanking the party…it’s still paying millions a year for Melania who hasn’t been seen this year! Not a single election rally scheduled. The RNC isn’t paying for down ballot campaigns. They have no ground game (armies of volunteers who canvas) in swing states and no money to organize any. The ONLY thing the RNC has is election workers willing to break the law and falsify the vote for Don, again, and maggots willing to vote multiple times, again.

Don’s support with millennials has dropped below 35% and is still shrinking fast. They really don’t like losing abortion rights, or birth control, and have heard the leadership saying the goal is to end “recreational sex” in America.
He’s still polling below 15% with the black community and never received over 12%. Biden lost a few percent, but they did not switch to Trump.
Women are outraged at the attempts to reverse the sexual revolution and get them barefoot and pregnant back in the kitchen with no rights and no voice and are voting against Republicans in droves even in deep red states.
There is no group he’s gaining with and many he’s losing, expect even evangelical support to evaporate as his porn star payoff/business fraud case is in the news all next month, sordid details and all.

It’s just hilarious that you still think someone with all that baggage, who is a well known rapist, business failure, convicted fraud, charity thief, repeatedly bankrupt trust fund baby, narcissist, constant liar, racist, misogynist, gullible idiot, and who clearly has full blown dementia is the best the right has to offer. 😂

Turns out China has been setting up thousands of MAGA social media accounts and are 100% in the Trump camp, posting ridiculous conspiracy theories about Biden (that get picked up by righty media) and pro trump propaganda (also repeated by righty media). Normal people see our enemies like Russia and China backing the same candidate (who utterly failed to stand up to either when he was in power) and understand that candidate is on our enemies side, not America’s.

Today’s Republicans are lessor.
Less educated. Less moral. No ethics. Less truthfulness. Less humanity.
The educated, moral, and ethical Republicans have all left the party, it’s nothing more than idiotic cultists today, all crooks like Santos or proud racists like your last nominee for speaker who says he’s “David Duke without the baggage” and has gone to speak with the KKK and other racist organizations as a friend to them.

Your leader is a rapist who thinks he won one election against Obama, thinks Jeb Bush was president, thinks Biden might get us into WW2, and pretends he doesn’t understand that going to court to lower his appraisal value for taxes, under oath swearing they’re worth far less than the appraised value, then valuing his properties at 30000% of their appraised value under oath when applying for loans is a crime. That’s all just in the last week.

Biden and Fetterman are both totally lucid, rational, and grounded in reality despite one having a slight speech impediment….they both are insanely greater than dementia Don with his lumpy full diapers handing over top secret military classified documents to try and make a friend….for nothing more than a billionaires company, that billionaire then put the nuclear submarine specifications online for our enemies. He should be shot 20 times for that, it’s absolutely treason with no excuse.

Quit thinking Republicans are lesser. You side has brain dead Biden and Fetterman,

Yes Santos is a bad dude and should be kick out. Politics being what is is he is a vote, like Fetterman, who also should not be in congress.

Gary Chambers - Scars and Bars

newtboy says...

So…the Louisiana Democratic Party just changed their rules on the spot with a fake vote (ending with 80-40 with under 100 people present) specifically to deny Chambers the party nomination he had won in the primary and instead endorsed every candidate….in the name of “unity”.

Not sure why top Democrats work so hard to ensure they lose, but they do. Reminds me of the DNC changing and breaking their rules to endorse Hillary despite her being the worst possible candidate with so much baggage she needed an army of porters, the only person who could get Trump the votes he needed.

Sabotaging progressives shouldn’t be a feature of the Democratic Party.

GOP Handmaid’s Tale

luxintenebris says...

“The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. It’s almost as if, by being born, they have died to you. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus but actually dislike people who breathe.

Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn."

Chauvin Guilty of Murder as Calls for Police Reform Grow

newtboy says...

Lol.
Again, no, he wasn't caught having lied. He attended an MLK march, not a BLM protest. That's no where near the standard for jury nullification. Chauvin's horrendous defense, his lawyers incredibly bad job reaching near criminal incompetence, is a much better case....but his lawyer isn't arguing that.

But more baggage has come out....in the form of civil rights violation charges against all four. Two separate cases for Chavin including a case from around 2018 when he strangled a 14 year old child by holding him by the throat for 17 minutes while beating him in the head with a metal maglight repeatedly. Grand Jury indictments yesterday. D'oh!

The Video Store - Last Action Hero

Mordhaus says...

Just watched this again recently. I don't know why it tanked at the box office.

Although the director had this to say about it: About the film's failure and critical response, John McTiernan said: "Initially, it was a wonderful Cinderella story with a nine-year-old boy. We had a pretty good script by Bill Goldman, charming. And this ludicrous hype machine got hold of it, and it got buried under bullshit. It was so overwhelmed with baggage. And then it was whipped out unedited, practically assembled right out of the camera. It was in the theater five or six weeks after I finished shooting. It was kamikaze, stupid, no good reason for it. And then to open the week after Jurassic Park--God! To get to the depth of bad judgment involved in that you'd need a snorkel."

"Weird Al" Yankovic is on the plane.

Wolves don't have a choice like you do.

Steak is only part of your choice, it comes with the added baggage of violence that is so horrific that we had to hide it from society, and make it illegal to film it.

You are paying for the entire package.

Steak is definitely optional. I choose steak.

Killing only stops if there are no cows. If there are living cows they will die one day. In the wild pretty quickly if you apply your morals to wolves also.

A cow has no abstract concept of the fear of being eaten (only a general fear and instincts) so unless you purposefully go out of your way to hurt it there is nothing philosophically wrong with eating one, unless you get all emotional and make a complicated moral choice. Which is your choice to make.

Cavemen is a pretty wide term. I am probably smarter than most cavemen. But from the time they got organized and hunted large animals until now man has not really changed much - a couple of tens of thousands of years. We probably tend to remember less and be more depressed and weaker and use our senses less well. Can type faster though.

Vegan Diet or Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Healthier?

transmorpher says...

He did mention fish/white meat, however he was making the point that meats aren't what is making them healthy - the Mediterraneans are healthy despite these animal foods. They are healthy because of the large intake of whole plant foods, as is the case in Japan.

And we know this, because within Japan itself there's a clear relationship between health, and amount of animal products consumed. The traditional Okinawan diet (the place which has the most centenarians int he world) is just 6% calories from animal products, the rest being from sweet potato and rice and veg. Where as mainland Japan where they eat more animal products they don't do as well as their Okinawan neighbors.

This relationship of animal food intake & rates of chronic diseases works on a local level or a global level. Less is always better, all the way to none (Loma Linda 7th day Adventists many of which are vegan by religion tend do the best out of all of the blue zones, when it comes to chronic disease).

------

Omega 3 is present in so many plant foods - such as flaxseed/linseed, hemp, chia, and even sea algae (which is where the fish get their omega 3 from)

The benefit of getting omega 3 from plant sources means almost no saturated fat, no cholesterol, no mercury, no IGF-1 raising protein structures (and no antibiotics if you are eating farmed fish). Also they say the ocean will be fishless by 2048..... (which also coincides with the Post Atomic Horror era for the Trekkies out there lol)

Fish also don't have any fiber, (the one macro nutrient everyone pretends doesn't exist, and most people are deficient in). Stay regular and prevent diverticulitis/diverticulitis, and avoid hemorrhoids, and even varicose veins.

Flax also contains lignans which prevents/treats prostate cancer https://www.healthline.com/health/prostate-cancer/flaxseed-and-prostate-cancer.

You just get so much more nutrition out of plants over all. Animal products tend to have a higher amount of a single compound or nutrient, but they have a lot of baggage with it. It's like buying a car, you don't necessarily want the one with the biggest engine, the total package is what's important.

Whether or not Barnard is a vegan shill, doesn't change the nutritional profiles of foods as shown above.

It also doesn't change the fact he looks, acts and speaks amazing for someone that's 65 years old - clearly putting his theory into practice with wonderful results. And while that is anecdotal, that's certainly something nobody would say about Atkins, or Loran Cordain (Paleo advocate) or Jimmy Moore (Keto advocate), who all look like they could drop dead any minute (and Atkins literally did drop dead).

Mordhaus said:

Eating fish and poultry at least twice a week is conspicuously left off the Mediterranean Diet list here.

Fatty fish — such as mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna and salmon — are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Fish is eaten on a regular basis in the Mediterranean diet.

Seems from everything I see, seafood seems to be pretty predominant in Japanese diet intake, the other diet he mentioned in comparison.

So, I figured, let me look up some info on the Dr. presenting here. Neal Barnard is a well known Vegan and founding president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Intriguing, no? Then I looked up the PCRM he is the founding president of (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physicians_Committee_for_Responsible_Medicine). OMG, they just happen to be a non-profit research and advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C., which promotes a vegan diet, preventive medicine, and alternatives to animal research, and encourages what it describes as "higher standards of ethics and effectiveness in research." Its tax filing shows its activities as "prevention of cruelty to animals."

So it is a combination of a Vegan diet promotional group AND PETA. It also seems that they don't mind omitting parts of 'competing' diets to promote their own. Basically this is the equivalent of a organization like Atkins having a doctor like Iris Shai, RD, PhD, show that a low-carbohydrate diet like Atkins had a more favorable effect on blood lipid levels than both the Mediterranean diet or a low–fat diet.

Obviously she must be right, she is a doctor and other doctors support her. So this must mean all the other doctors and diets are wrong, including this one, right?

I'm calling this *propaganda, sorry.

After seeing his temperament on display, that's probably a good thing.
It's odd to me that a terrorised reluctant witness was incredibly more composed and professional than an applicant for a job that requires calm detachment and a firm control over one's emotions, during what is essentially his job interview.
Instead of remaining calm, he went so far as to attack the senators in his answers, not a good move in a job interview and a clear indication he's not able to put aside personal feelings to judge fairly or professionally.

I hope the next nominee has less baggage and is closer to center, or we'll likely repeat this process.

Bill Maher - Sen. Bernie Sanders

MilkmanDan says...

Thanks for the video reminding me of why (and how much) I like Bernie Sanders.

I liked what he had to say, but on the other hand I really think Maher was asking the right questions and I don't know that Bernie had great answers.

Shattering Trump's cult of personality is necessary. Maybe Trump will do that himself by just continuing to dodge and not follow through on anything, but we can't take that for granted because A) it is possible that he will put forth enough token effort into his campaign promises (wall, etc.) that he can simply blame lack of completion on "Democrat obstruction", and B) even if he does *nothing*, it has totally worked for him so far with regards to approval ratings in his base.

"Make America Great Again" was a stroke of genius, whether he happened on it by dumb luck or not. Obviously a good thing at face value, yet vague enough that anyone can attach their own baggage to it and feel like Trump is totally in sync with them. What do Democrats have to counter that? All of Bernie's offerings are campaign-promise-speak that can't happen unless there's a D in the White House and a majority in Congress. And no sure thing even then.

Like I said, I don't know that I think Bernie had great answers to those questions. I don't know that anybody else has better answers right now. I certainly don't. But I DO think that those questions are the right ones to be pondering over the next two years.
