Texas Declares Sovereignty from U.S.

Lolthien says...

Soooo ummmm.. he never actually 'seceded' from the Union. And he never announced which 'oppressive' policies he disagreed with, and by saying 'un-presidented' I think is a pretty funny freudian slip since the President From Texas still has such a bad reputation, Texas truly has been un-presidented.

Also, I'm guessing no one is taking this seriously? It happened almost a week ago, and this is the first I'm seeing of it. It's all just posturing?

I think bad rep as far as insurance is concerned, 'cause they were the first real affordable sport bikes. I usually ride year 'round but usually get snotted in with snow a couple of weeks at a time.

Bad rep, really? Do tell / send links plz.

The last two years I put it away precisely at mid-Nov., but we just got hammered with a minor blizzard last night in our first snow. It oughta melt, though. So we'll see.

Good bike with a bad reputation. Can you still ride up there this time of year?

It's a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6 (1993). I hadn't expected to have a sport bike, but what the hell, I do and I love her.

So you ride? Got a bike now? I imagine it's a Triumph based on your Brando-esque avatar.

Standup Comic Todd Glass Tells off Rude Girl

raverman says...

People like her are the reason Americans get a bad reputation as loud, rude, obnoxious, and demanding in other country's.

She's one of the few who makes everyone look bad. when most people at generous and polite.

Over entitled bitch needed a smack down and she got it.

Pit Bull Myths

drattus says...

HorsSujet, not exactly. Dobermans and German Shepards went through a similar time as well, back in the 60's German Shepards couldn't keep up with their popularity so were inbred by unethical breeders and over the years they developed some problems and developed a bad reputation for a time. Years later it was the Doberman, if a movie wanted to show a "scary" dog it was that.

Today it seems to be more the Rottweiler and pit bull type, it's just the fashion of the moment. It's a problem of two things the way I see it, bad breeding and bad press ruining an otherwise decent breed. Idiots who want a "tough" dog gravitate toward this one these days and are ruining this breed instead of another, odds are eventually the fashions will change and they'll go ruin yet another as we try to recover this one like we did the dobie and shepard.

My wife points out to me that dogs she's seen abused tend to go one of two ways. They either turn into defensive biters or nervous pissers. If you beat a Sheltie you'll probably get a scared dog that pees when it sees you, beat a Shepard, Doberman, Rottweiler or pit bull and things might not work out as well. When due to abuse or poor breeding a problem does happen a "pit bull" attack is big news we'll hear about, one from most other breeds more likely a back page story if one at all. It's just the current fashion.

It isn't that they can't be a problem, just that things aren't always what they seem. It's a decent breed that's had a run of bad luck, and not of their own fault.

The 5 Basic Tastes - Salt, Sweet, Sour, Bitter & Umami

joedirt says...

The guy in the video gets painfully annoying, but this is about GLUTAMATES!

The fifth taste category is provided by glutamate like mushrooms. It is like a volume control on the other taste receptors, so we don't have a unique taste bud for it like sweet, but it definately adds "flavor". It's really funny what a bad reputation MSG got (some people are allergic).. When MSG is essentially adding in this 'extra' flavor to food.

What is funny is that if you think of most of the table sauces, ketchup, soy sauce, etc. they are mostly just glutamates or else concerntrated spices (mustard, hot sauce)
