Putting the knives through the paddles could be possible. And cool.

The pineapple one is fake for two reasons:
a) it's not possible to practice it safely -- the margin of error is too small for humans
b) the odds of hitting the pineapple exactly horizontal in both x- and z-planes are too long
c) I frame-by-framed it, and the perfect cut in the pineapple appears before the knife hits it
I'm guessing that knife was made of rubber, or was CGI'ed in later.

The ping-pong ball one might be possible, but in this case, I'm sure it was faked. I think she had the ball in her mouth the whole time and the ball was CGI'ed in later like in Forrest Gump and the Bruce Lee one. If it were real, her mouth would have been open wider and longer before the ball got there, and she would have been using a sharp intake of breath to increase the chances of catching it.

Hmm... I can see a few ways in which this can fail.

Either it turns into a very long sequence of death defying 3D camera work like we see in the trailer, ending with a hard Soyud landing.

Or what we see here is actually padded out with dramatic all-American family values and a sappy sacrifice for the greater good (= the guy dies to save the girl).

The best way in which this plays out already seems out. Realistically, they are both dead as soon as they are 'off structure', and they would know that. Their last moments would be best spent talking, and shutting of the oxygen supply.

And another little thing in this trailer that really bugs me is Sandra Bullock screaming "What do I do!?". Why is is the female astronaut shouting that? It just seems odd that even in a movie portraying astronauts (who are extraordinarly professional and cool headed), it's still the woman being the helpless screamer. Even, apparently, to such an extent that it ends up in a trailer.

But yeah, it looks very cool.

For goodness' sake, doesn't anyone see that this is playing into A&F's marketing plan? All this outrage and uproar, and the net effect is "Abercrombie and Fitch make clothes for beautiful people. If you are wearing these clothes, then you are one of the cool kids; so buy these clothes and people with think you're beautiful and cool".

Typical Dane Cook hatred for no reason. There are plenty of unfunny comedians and, yet, why pick on Dane Cook? Because it's the thing to do. It's "in," "hip," and "cool" to join in. I wish I could say that I'm just defending him unbiased, but the fact of the matter is I think he's pretty funny. I'm not a typical college girl that thinks he's so handsome and I want him to fuck my brains out so I go to his shows and scream at the top of my lungs. I'm actually a lover of stand-up comedy. Seen many live performances as well as ones on TV. Sure, maybe Dane's stardom seemed unequal to his talents, but I don't see somebody's popularity through hard work, networking, and charisma as a reason to chastise them.

Makes me wonder where in the hell all that lava decided to go... It DID go somewhere in a VERY large volume. Anybody seen any news that said where it emptied or broke out at (the other option is that it in fact emptied into a "lava system" that most likely already existed and it's just sitting there making a pathway out OR trapped and cooling off, meaning the "lake" will be back...)?

I've owned a Dyson vac and I can confirm it didn't hold a candle to 'old reliable' my 20 year old Kirby Diamond Classic my mom gave me when I got my first apartment. It may be fancy looking, but the difference in performance is night and day. Yes I may have to buy bags once in a while, or replace a busted belt, but that old Kirby cleans like nobodies business.

I've found Dyson products in general are shit. I received one of their 'fans' as a gift. It worked decently enough but was loud as hell when turned up and didn't spread air around the room that well, all for $350 for a 12" fan. I later bought a regular fan that had different settings, could turn to blow air around the room, etc, and did a 'much' better job cycling and cooling the room for $50.

Dyson is like Bose. Fantastic marketing but the actual product is over-priced and under-performing.

But ya, coal needs to go, but you have to remember, 2 billion people live in abject poverty. They try to bridge the gap using as cheap a source of energy they can...like coal. Until you make energy cheaper than coal, your never going to displace the use of dino fuels around the world. The physics on fusion, solar, and hydrogen can't answer that call for quite awhile (we have been trying to make fusion work for decades, same with solar, and fuel cells are just terrible right now and only work for transportation fuels not baseload power generation). I do think we can answer a large number of these problems with new generations of nuclear power, with passive safety and no emissions, gen4 reactors have a lot of great points if people give them a chance!

In relation to the direct content of the video, your NEVER going to get China and India on board with giving up cheap energy...they are BOTH x3 the population of the US, they have to care about cheap energy WAAAAY more than us, for population and standard of living issues. The only way to win this isn't through regulation, it is through technological innovation...and China has been buying up our AP1000 Gen3 for all the reasons I just mentioned.

To say that dino fuels are "Destroying us" is a little bit of a misnomer, you don't get food without hydrocarbons, you don't have refrigeration without hydrocarbons, you don't get heating and cooling without hydrocarbons. Energy isn't the enemy, any attempts to price out energy will only hurt the most reliant on its low price...if you doubled the price of gas via taxation, you aren't helping the little man. Cheap energy prices, even if they are oil based, aren't the devil, any attempts to make them so is a misunderstanding of the energy crisis. More oil drilling isn't even going to lower costs, at best, it will keep them the same, but peak oil in the US has already come, more drilling in more exotic places is just going to tow the line...and it isn't even going to do that.

Talking about clean coal is just so "we" can talk about how much we need cheap energy without talking about the health effects. Coal does kill, without a doubt, but so does electricity so costly you can't afford heating or cooling. You can't call for an elimination of coal without talking about what is going to replace it, and at what cost. This is even MORE relevant with the recent spout of weather, imagine if that area was packed full of solar and wind...it most likely be completely destroyed, and those are already very cost heavy forms of energy.

Anyway, I will end the rant. I really recommend the book above if you wish to delve down the rabbit hole of energy solutions. It isn't as easy as you think, it is why we are still using dino fuels. Any path you choose is challenging, and VERY capital and R&D intensive. Were are talking multiple trillion dollars to role out replacements on a national scale. Now, oil does a trillion a year, so this isn't outside the realm of possibility, but it is going to take a technical answer to solve, not a political one.

Lol. So true. I collect knives, and I assure you it's not just a police mentality. Go watch knife reviews on YouTube. So many reviewers/commenters discussing the "tactical" positives and negatives of particular knives, as if any of them will EVER find themselves in a situation where "tip-up" or "tip-down" will make one bit of difference. And if they should find themselves in that sort of situation, the vast, VAST majority of them would do best by running away, and spare themselves from getting killed or having their own knife shoved up their ass.

"Tactical porn" is exactly what it is, and it sells lots of gear to civilians as well as police.

It might sound odd, but I'm very passionate about shaving. I have tried everything that comes on the market, Fusion, Mach3 or whatever and they all suck donkey balls next to my single blade, double edge safety-razor, badger brush and good shaving soap. For those men who shave, especially black guys, wet-shaving simply can not be beat.
I've worn out 2 bristle brushes in 25 years of shaving. When the last needed to be replaced I treated myself to a really nice Badger hair brush- it was about $50, and is totally worth it. I'm allowed to have nice things. A five dollar bristle brush works just as well, but doesn't feel nearly as nice, nor does it make as nice a lather.
For soap Proraso Ultra-Sensitive is my current favorite. It's pretty inexpensive- a ten dollar tub lasts almost a year, and it is nicely moisturizing. Doesn't have a pretty scent, but that's okay. Not that it doesn't smell nice- it does, just not all pretty-like. I also use the standard Proraso green- it's loaded with Menthol and Eucalyptus so is really cooling on the skin- in the summer on a hot day if you use that stuff and cool water it feels like you're shaving with ice. There are some expensive luxury soaps and creams available and they are absolutely fantastic- An ex once gave me a cake of Geo F. Trumpers Limes, and I cherished that stuff for years- used it only on special occasions. You can also buy the old-standard "Mug" brand shaving soap for about one or two dollars at most drug stores- it works pretty good as well but is a little drying to the face- I keep a bar around and take it camping and backpacking.
The handle I use is a classic vintage "Improved" Gillette 3-piece screw-together safety razor dating from the 1930s, which makes it nearly 80 years old! How's that for economical? New handles are also available at specialty stores and online. The Merkur brand handles are particularly nice- I have one of those even though I still prefer the vintage Gillette. The old Gillette is also gold plated which does nothing to make the shave better but it looks cool.
As for blades, about three or four years ago I bought 400 Derby brand safety blades on Ebay for $50! I use fewer than 2 blades/week which means I've got a lot left, more than a hundred. I've also given away many packages to friends who wanted to try wet-shaving and none of them have gone back to their old (new?) ways.
Two passes gives me a clean and super-close shave, no nicks, no ingrown hairs, no burning, no bumps. Skin feels fantastic and I do very well with the ladies. Speaking of the ladies, most every woman I've been with has been very curious about the whole thing- the morning ritual with the brush, the special soaps etc. Some have even asked if they could try- which can lead to a lot of fun! Think that'll ever come about with your cheap spray-can of nasty foam or gel?
Men-do yourself a favour and throw away those over-priced mediocre multi-blade set-ups and chemical-laden skin-drying cans of shitty foam and shave like a real man. This is one thing your grandfather had right.
