Judge Barrett isn't worth considering
This has nothing to do with her capability. It never has been. It has to do with people pissed because there is a nominee during this time.
News flash, it doesn't matter if Trump wins or loses. He can nominate someone even after he loses. Until he is replaced, he is THE President of the United States.
No judge is required to have a photographic memory of the Constitution. I bet you could ask SITTING judges on the Supreme Court and have them miss a question. That is what clerks and research people are for.
What this comes down to is two basic things.
1. Merrick Garland never made it onto the court. People are still bitterly pissed off that he didn't. But what they forget is that he WAS nominated and did not get through the process due to a Republican majority. It was perfectly legal and was allowed. It sucks if you wanted him, but that is the way the game works.
2. People are STILL scared that Roe v Wade is going to go bye bye or the ACA is going to get kneecapped. News flash, SCOTUS has been majority Conservative leaning judges for YEARS. When Gorsuch was picked, all I recall hearing was OMG OMG, THE SKY IS FALLING, ROE V WADE IS DEAD! Same thing as when Kavanaugh was picked; although they were pissed about his supposed rape as well, every news site was repeating the mantra about Roe V Wade now dead.
It isn't going to happen. Not at a Federal level. It would be suicide for years. Conservatives, by and large, do not give a fuck about abortion. It's only the squirrelly ultra right wing pricks that care and Republicans sadly have to cater to them verbally to keep their votes. States, yeah, some will pass laws and then those will get turned away from SCOTUS like they have been for a while. The appellate courts will set the precedent on those rulings and they solidly rule for Roe v Wade.
Same thing for the ACA, although personally I wish that would die a fucking quick death. As I've said before many times, that little gem has fucked the value of my family insurance from work into the ground. I didn't get to keep my doctor unless I wanted to pay 2k+ per person per year, because he and a shit ton of other doctors went to Concierge fees to cover the money they were losing under the ACA. Now I have to go to either:
A. Doctor's who have horrible ratings for their practice, ie ones that suck or just don't care.
B. A clinic setup where I 'technically' have a 'family doctor' but in reality I can be bumped to others on staff or, most likely, a PA. There is no feeling that I know my doctor because, even if I do get to see him, they just run me through as fast as possible so they can get another patient in.
I have pre-existing conditions, so I empathize with those who are on the ACA. But the act itself is fucked up beyond repair. It needs to die and get replaced with a true national insurance. If not that, something that lets me go back to feeling like I have a real doctor and not just whoever is johnny on the spot at that moment.
It isn't going to be killed at SCOTUS though, they don't want to legislate. They will let it survive and if you think otherwise you are drinking the liberal koolaid that they are serving to round up voters.
I like the Youtuber and do agree with his other videos. I do not agree with this. I can diagnose a Macbook Pro right now if I had to, even after being away from Apple for around 8 years. But I might need to pull up a damn schematic or reference manual to know how much resistance I should be looking for on the PPbus if it isn't present when trying to power the thing on. If I and everyone else had photographic memories, we wouldn't have reference material. Wikipedia wouldn't exist. This is simply a nitpick because people are worried and still pissed.
Guy has a truly horrible airport experience
And they think they deserve ANOTHER multi billion dollar handout/bailout from taxpayers, another socialist handout for free, no strings attached at all, but won't commit to upgrading service or even keeping employees employed (considering their competence level, that's reasonable, a monkey on meth would do better).
Same story at United. Fly Southwest.
If one of these customer service crews was just found at the ticketing desk torn limb from limb by hand, customer service would improve instantly. A carry on bag full of sodas makes a great weapon, and drawing and quartering sends one hell of a message....just saying.
Just a side note, while airports screech at you to social distance every thirty seconds, airplanes are flying at capacity with zero possibility of any social distancing, instead you're forced to have physical contact with other passengers. Don't fly during pandemics unless it's absolutely necessary.
Let's talk about Trump going to the hospital....
It happened, it was halted, it's happening again. As long as lower education is so disparate between mostly white and mostly black schools, it's proper. Revamp the education system so all high school graduates have the same educational opportunities, I would support removing it again, but we are moving the opposite direction. No link required, I explained....but from the link you provided....
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/01/18/upshot/some-colleges-have-more-students-from-the-top-1-percent-than-the-bottom-60.html
Did you read the link you provided about the one place supporting a day of absence? Evergreen? Their "day of absence" was 100% voluntary, not enforceable and not enforced, contrary to your claim.
The reporter chased out wasn't chased out, he was confronted, and he had left the media area to interrupt the event by "interviewing" people who didn't want to be interviewed in the middle of the event. Trump's campaign has adopted this tactic and added violence, and often physically assaulted reporters even when they comply and stay in the media area. This particular event was akin to a reporter jumping on stage and insisting the speaker let him interview him then and there, disrupting the sanctioned event.
Um....this was a discussion of why people would vote for Trump, not what's happening in Canada. That said, you can't expect a university to give a platform to a person who would use it to degrade and denigrate the university and it's policies. I wouldn't expect a religious school to host atheistic pro-life lectures, and I wouldn't expect publicly funded universities to host anti inclusion lectures.
Duh...your alleged "whiteness" class was not defining whiteness as inherently negative, it was this....
CSRE 136: White Identity Politics (AFRICAAM 136B, ANTHRO 136B)
Pundits proclaim that the 2016 Presidential election marks the rise of white identity politics in the United States. Drawing from the field of whiteness studies and from contemporary writings that push whiteness studies in new directions, this upper-level seminar asks, does white identity politics exist? How is a concept like white identity to be understood in relation to white nationalism, white supremacy, white privilege, and whiteness? We will survey the field of whiteness studies, scholarship on the intersection of race, class, and geography, and writings on whiteness in the United States by contemporary public thinkers, to critically interrogate the terms used to describe whiteness and white identities. Students will consider the perils and possibilities of different political practices, including abolishing whiteness or coming to terms with white identity. What is the future of whiteness? n*Enrolled students will be contacted regarding the location of the course. And it was cancelled in 2016-17. Don't be dishonest, it will change my responses.
Not sure why you made up this falsely alleged definition of racism that appears nowhere in the definitions or class descriptions you linked, but you did. Calling bullshit....Again.
Critical Race Theory (7016): This course will consider one of the newest intellectual currents within American Legal Theory -- Critical Race Theory. Emerging during the 1980s, critical race scholars made many controversial claims about law and legal education -- among them that race and racial inequality suffused American law and society, that structural racial subordination remained endemic, and that both liberal and critical legal theories marginalized the voices of racial minorities. Course readings will be taken from both classic works of Critical Race Theory and newer interventions in the field, as well as scholarship criticizing or otherwise engaging with Critical Race Theory from outside or at the margins of the field. Meeting dates: The class will meet 7:15PM to 9:15PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (January 7, 8, and 9), and the following Monday and Tuesday (January 13 and 14). Elements used in grading: Class Participation, Written Assignments.
Not anti white/pro minority/white=evil....but an examination of how laws as written and enforced may (or may not) be an example of racial injustice codified in law, whether by accident or intent. Again, you misrepresent the facts to pretend a class that examines the roll of race in law is a racist class teaching whites are bad and blacks are good.
If everyone BUT Asains do poorly because they aren't offered the same opportunities to excell, then yes, we need to step in to UPGRADE the opportunities of everyone else, that doesn't translate into downgrading the opportunities Asains are offered. Derp. This bullshit is the same racist trope the anti equality side has used for years, it's just bullshit. Asians aren't penalized for being competent at math nor for being Asian....neither were whites, which was V 1.0 of that same argument.
Identity politics are on both sides, played hard by the right too, to the detriment of society.
Affirmative action got national pushback from the racist right the day it was described as a plan, and constantly since.
It seems you may be confused by morons who would tell you racism is dead, reverse racism is out of control. When white women start being lynched by black mobs and blacks get a free pass for breaking the law, come back and try again. Until then, you sound like a bully whining about getting a time out for punching a smaller kid because they're a different race and proclaiming the whole system is unfair to white kids because you had a minor consequence forced on you.
@newtboy
-Including race as a determining factor in your admission score
as a 'liberal' ideal
This IS happening broadly, link to how and arguments for why it is 'good'
https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2019/10/03/harvard-beat-an-effort-end-its-use-race-factor-admissions-what-will-supreme-court-do/

-Enforcement of a race based "day of absence" where based on your race you were to be 'kicked off' campus for the day
Specifically the day of absence was at evergreen:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergreen_State_College#2017_protests
Similarly reverse racist attitudes though are common enough, like chasing out a student journalist here for simply covering an event:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kVGtqp7usw
-"deplatforming" people for having dissenting opinions
Jordan Peterson is the biggest example, but my local uni has also banned pro-life student clubs too, so maybe I'm a little Canada biased on this?
-The entire circle-jerk of intersectionalism:
---"whiteness" needs to be defined as something inherently negative
Here's the Standford course on it if you or your parents wanna enrol:
https://explorecourses.stanford.edu/search?view=catalog&filter-coursestatus-Active=on&page=0&catalog=&q=CSRE+32SI%3A+Whiteness&collapse=
---"Racism" needs to redefined as not simply racial prejudice, but racial prejudice PLUS power(you know, so only white people can be racist under the new definition)
Likewise offered at Stanford, unless this is the lone critical race theory course that doesn't champion the above prejudice+power definition.
https://law.stanford.edu/courses/critical-race-theory/
---"systemic racism" getting defined as anything with unequal outcomes, so if asian students do too well in math it must mean the system is favouring them and we need to step in
And I'm out of time,
but seriously I'm a little baffled this was remotely controversial? Identity politics is a game the left has been playing at HARD for at minimum the decades since Affirmative Action was launched. The notion that the idea would eventually get national level push back should have been easy to see coming.
A Night at the Garden
For context (because I know I was curious): this video is from November 2017, 3 months after the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville in which a neo-nazi dickhead ran over a peaceful protestor. Trump had stated that in the conflict between the peaceful anti-racism group and the white supremacist / neo-nazi group there had been "fine people on both sides". I get the impression some of the people at PBS weren't thrilled about that, and wanted to give the public a gentle reminder that it can, in fact, happen here.
Fascism is alive and has been thriving the last few years in the US. With any luck we'll soon defeat it, like we did 75 years ago.
Professor Brian Harvey On Why Not To Cheat
marijuana was not a recreational drug. now it is.
recreational drugs inside the united states can differ from recreational drugs outside the united states.
so... which moral compass is he setting his yacht to, the rest of us must suddenly obey, or be doomed to face-eating cats?
i am talking about recreational drugs.
and what is it you think i'm saying?
Trump Lashes Out Over Report He Insulted Fallen Soldiers
A leader calms the nation AS THEY LEAD, they calm by explaining the problem and outlining the solution, not by saying nothing's wrong, the virus is a hoax, take no precautions, don't wear masks, go back to work, come to my rally, do everything the worst way possible for public health so hundreds of thousands die, just don't be scared....it's ok to die.
Other nations were honest, treated citizens like adults, and solved their pandemic issues. Trump wasn't, Trump didn't, we have 4% of the world's population and 25% of covid deaths and rising fast. His non plan to pretend nothing's wrong cost 180000 lives SO FAR, and estimated to more than double by Xmas.
Trump called for Obama's resignation because two Americans got Ebola.
Does the nation seem calm? Does it seem United? Does it even seem led? Fuck, the delusion, bob, you're so spun you say insanity like there's no racism in America and Democrats are the racists.
Cranial rectosis is real, Bob. Get checked.
So stupid, Bob, it's not fake just because you aren't outraged your president lied to you and made you a liar along with him. So much for your nothing burger, everything he told you about Covid was bullshit, just like I told you then, and you're mad at me for saying so, not him for lying and killing 180000 Americans by misleading them into deadly behavior.
You are right Trump should have cam clean and step up to the mic and say We are Fck. many will die. take shelter
newt, a good leader brings calm to the nation.
Yet another non story.
Every other day some new fake story to come .
TAC 20 years of effectively, somewhat graphic PSAs
The United States could surely benefit from these kinds of PSAs
Star Trek - First Contact (1996) [no money]
Picard's final statement seems straight out of Hume, who (if second-hand memory serves) felt that, as societies became wealthier, people would spend more of their time in contemplation.
Even so, I can't see getting around at least a unit of account: at some point, Starfleet will have to make a decision about commissioning a new space ship. To do that, they'll need to know what they could be doing with those resources if they didn't build a new ship. Thus, they'll need to know what it would cost them in foregone opportunities. To answer this, it's a convenient to have a single metric.
Tallest Mohawk - Guinness World Records
My hair ends just below the top of my shoulder blades. As a kid my parental units insisted on a "crew cut" which I always hated. It exposed a small bald spot on the back of my head which seemed to make my siblings always want to poke at it. Once I escaped parental captivity I said goodbye bald spot forever.
I was never interested in sporting a Mohawk.

You mean an editorial opinion piece? Call me when you have something, not when you find a Trumpster who agrees with Trump. I don't have Wall Street Journal account, so I can only read paragraph one.
There's no question in anybody's mind why Trump's unqualified appointee chose now to dismantle the post offices ability to deliver mail, when it's needed most. Any problems the post office has had existed when Trump came into office, some have worsened since (edit:holy shit! They've doubled annual losses under Trump's perfect business acumen, now nearly $9 billion a year loss and skyrocketing!), but they did nothing about it until months before an election ( that is depending on the post office) to make changes, changes that make them less efficient, cost money, and make them incapable of on time delivery (so incapable of handling the election). Not one bit of that is by accident.
The post office cannot raise postage rates without congressional approval, and have other congressionally mandated costs costing them billions ( https://news.nd.edu/news/postal-service-losing-money-because-of-congressional-mandate-not-low-prices-expert-says/) so the letter side of the business is losing money, the package delivery side Trump complains about has mostly paid the bills for a while now, but they still lose millions/billions as a unit, that's why they asked for I think $23 billion to upgrade to be able to meet historic minimum standards and $3 billion to cover extra costs associated with the election, money Trump says are no go because they'll allow fraudulent voting (the first sitting president ever to go to great lengths to ensure the smallest vote count, btw)...but recently said he would sign a bill including that funding for the post office if Democrats agree to billions more in more tax cuts that mostly benefit people like....wait for it....himself (as if the deficit isn't growing fast enough). If he really thought mail in voting was fraudulent, why would he agree to do it for anything? Isn't that selling out democracy?! Aren't you enraged?!?

COVID Cancel Culture
...Or elections, which were never postponed under any circumstances but that's what's being suggested by those same people denying there's a Covid problem, because the pandemic is so terrible we can't vote....what?
How can he say H3N2 was much deadlier? By flatly lying.
H3N2 was first noted in the United States in September 1968. The estimated number of deaths was about 100,000 in the United States. Pretty clear which is actually more deadly with Covid deaths at 150000 and skyrocketing.
Just more bullshit and *lies from our favorite science denier.
Any website that's "real-insertscientificfieldhere-science.com" is going to be science deniers spouting flat earth level nonsense and lies. Duh.
You could selectively choose events, including NASA launches that were cancelled just as easily.
"Much deadlier than the current one" how exactly can you determine that when the current pandemic is far from over.
Woman kicked off flight for not wearing a mask
It's not an overreaction if she's contagious, and there's no way to know. Intentionally spreading disease is a crime, an assault. Doing it through intentional negligence is hardly mitigation.
That said, they would certainly kick me off if I did that...Edit:...probably permanently.....and rightly so. I won't fly until Covid is no longer an issue.
This year I went on Vacation, was abandoned overnight in SFO thanks to United being horrible at scheduling and keeping schedules, and my wife and I both got a sickness just like Covid, this was early February. This was pre-masks. If we were less healthy, it could easily have put us in the hospital or morgue. I fully agree, airports and planes are almost designed to spread diseases, which makes draconian enforcement of health rules mandatory when deadly airborne diseases are common, imo.
I fully agree, I'm for identifying them and creating a national master list of people to refuse treatment to. Facial recognition is commonplace today, it might as well be used for public good. Beyond the zombie theory, if doctors and nurses are in a huge conspiracy to fake a worldwide pandemic, why would people thinking that go to the same doctors for help with the fake virus? I bet mask wearing would near 100% under those circumstances, where deniers are denied treatment and forced to take personal responsibility for their actions. I've never heard of any virus denier refusing treatment, it's certainly not the norm.
That's arguably an overreaction and the airline might kick both out.
Last year I went on a vacation, caught some nasty bug on the plane on both flights. An hour into the flight my nose starts running badly and eyes tearing up. Back to normal after a night's sleep.
Airplane interior are nasty anyway at the best of times. Germs & virus on the surface and recycled air environment. Mask should just be mandated.
Dumb-asses that believe in hoaxes & fake news that "masks cause brain damage" should be banded from clinics & hospitals. By their logic, since all nurses & doctors wear mask everyday at work, thus they're all brain-damaged zombies. And who would want to be treated by zombies huh?
It's called a dress code, Kevin!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pogue
wikipedia: "Pogue is American pejorative military slang for non-infantry staff, and other rear-echelon or support units. "Pogue" frequently applies to those who do not have to undergo the risk and stresses of combat as the infantry does."
Well stated.
Now, what's a "poge"?

Into The Wild (Bus 142) // Stampede Trail Hike & Packraft!
True enough, and probably why the state paid to move it, but it wasn't a problem until the book/movie inspired large numbers to visit.
Edit: That said, people need to take more personal responsibility for their own actions, attractive nuisance or not.
Now that all the kids know the matches are in the dresser drawer, it's time for the parental units to put them away in the locked closet.
Actually I think the responsibility falls on the people who left the bus there in the first place, not those who are attracted to it. People won't climb a mountain that's not there. Kids won't play with matches if they can't get their hands on them.
