Lentil soup (food for sifting) (Food Talk Post)

oritteropo says...

I like to make my own stock from my veggie peelings and trimmings, I simmer them with a bay leaf and it ends up working pretty well.

Other times I use Massel veggie stock in a tin - http://www.massel.com.au/products/stock_powder.shtml - it's hard to find ones which don't have either MSG (I don't like the chemically after taste of MSG) or palm oil or trans fats (from Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil for instance) but that one is pretty good.

Another nice soup is spring vegetable soup, like this one:

Or for the left over split red lentils, these koftesi have almost the same ingredients as the soup but make a quite different meal:

Finally, a hearty soup for carnivores is Scotch broth:

It's interesting you mention Tamari, my Dad uses gravy powder in his veggie soup Strangely, the gravy powder I have is vegan... not sure how that works, but it tastes spot on.

MMmmmmm... a few things to consider adding to a basic water/oil/savories type stock for anyone not wanting to use meat or chicken:

Tamari, Bragg's All-Purpose Seasoning, or there's this really good brand of vegetarian boullion Better Than Boullion, comes in about 5 varieties, including lobster and shrimp-You might also try some Traditional Molé, the Mexican paste used for tamales and other dishes...

This is a great basic procedural for most broth based, hearty soups-Nice one, oritteropo

Mmmmmm, loves me some Split Pea Soup now that I'm thinking about it....

Plane crash scene from the movie "Flight"

SFOGuy says...

Saw a fascinating article in Smithsonian Air and Space magazine (I think) which basically outlined that the inverted roll thing would have never worked in a real runaway jack screw trim failure (which is what killed all the unfortunate people on that Alaska Airlines Flight).

Still, a great movie scene once you suspend your disbelief.

WTF Japanese Bikini Waxing Commercial - (Wait for it)

It's all down to personal preference. If you want to be greeted by the Sasquatch down there that's your prerogative. Personally, I go for the clean shaved/waxed around the important area, and neatly trimmed for a "map of Tasmania" effect above. If she doesn't want to do that, I'm cool. Just don't let it become a rain forest, please.

Also, this doesn't just apply to women. Lads, it doesn't hurt to keep it groomed down there (well, it could if you try it drunk).

Thanks to internet porn, even your fucking grandmother trims the beaver hutch nowadays....Quite frankly, we miss the thigh furbies......can't stand stubble and ingrown hars down thars, OH, and tell me this ladies..

Does rendering your snatch hairless make that particular area of your anatomy more desirable or aid in her proper function? NO. Hairless beavers are tantamount to corsets and high heels-It's a discomfort endured, touted by horny douchebag males as a hip, new style. Not so thinly-veiled pedo-bear new rules....

Notwithstanding my personal tastes, some nappy dugouts are quite hard to regard with relish.....Maybe YOU should consider the laser, hon....

Polls on the sift. Could there be more than one issue at a time? (User Poll by albrite30)

albrite30 says...

Now I will agree that the wording of this particular poll could be better. I was irritated at the time so my bias does come out. However with the sacrifice of my pride I do feel that the inclusion of a second poll slot would enhance the sift in a meaningful way. You aren't a jerk @dag to question my motives, it is only right that you do so. I know that the promote issue is a more important one while this one seems fairly minor in comparison.

I understand that having a second option would take time and effort on your part to enable, and that sometimes one just has to trim the "fat" off of work schedules. However I will restate that I honestly believe that this will be to benefit the sift and not just my stupid polling.

This is a poorly constructed poll that shows the bias of the poster, yes there is *often* more than one issue at a time, that doesn't necessarily mean we need multiple polls.

Also, I question your reasoning for pushing this particular issue. You were called out by many for posting a poll with nonsensical questions and little substance.

I don't want to be a jerk, but I suppose I will. Is this really an issue you feel strongly about or a pride saving exercise?

Sorry in advance for the passive aggressive harshness. ;-)
