Al Franken Calmly Discusses Healthcare With Teabaggers
Al Franken wasn't reading off the Pelosi talking points memo. Either way, the government option is dead thanks to the Tea Parties.

Theirs, not yours.
Oh, pu-lease! *rolls eyes* I can't believe that got applauded.

“At this point, whatever dividing line there was between mainstream conservatism and the black-helicopter crowd seems to have been virtually erased.”
- NY Times columnist Paul Krugman.

"So which one of us is going to be the first to admit that it's time to cast a new look at our First Amendment rights? The fomentors have gone way beyond "sticks and stones". They not only revel in the attention it brings, they're addicted to it.
There are millions of people who take to heart every seriously off-base utterance from the Right Wing extremist "entertainers", and the number of incidents caused by their acting-out is only going to increase--unless we as a society stop allowing hate speech to masquerade as amusement."

How are you going to follow the election on election day? (Election Talk Post)
If you want maximum objectivity, go for C-SPAN coverage, or PBS.
I'm going to be sitting at my computer, TV nearby with MSNBC on, and my web browser open to: VideoSift, Daily Kos, Talking Points Memo, Huffington Post Fivethirtyeight.com, CNN's election results page, and YouTube.
I'll be switching over to the Comedy Central election coverage at 10pm, and back to the real thing if it's still not decided by then (and I doubt it would be).
I'll have champagne on ice for victory, and whiskey nearby for sorrow-drowning.
I'll try to do a little armchair electoral math, Chuck Todd style as the night goes on, as I'm sure every network/site will.
One preview though:
2000 it was Florida, Florida, Florida
2004 it was Ohio, Ohio, Ohio
2008 it will be Virginia, Virginia, Virginia
Also keep an eye on the Senate races in Minnesota, Kentucky, and Georgia.
Barack Obama on The O'Reilly Factor Day 2
^ I'm pretty sure TPM was founded with a sarcastic spin off BillO's Talking Points Memo.
It's the original "The Word" from Colbert, too.
Barack Obama on The O'Reilly Factor Day 2
Did billo give a shout out to TPM?
I've never heard him call it "talking points memo" before

Keywords: "Radical organizing"
That right there is reason to believe the people would be up to no good.
Nobody uses the word 'radical' to describe an organization that isn't prone to violence.
Fox News uses the word "radical" to describe: DailyKos, Huffington Post, Talking Points Memo, ACLU, the Democratic party, and Obama's whole family.
Lots of people misuse the word.
Who's to blame for the Russian Georgian conflict?
He's echoing the Kremlin's political talking points memos.
Russia hopes to have it's cake and eat it too by bombing Georgia whilst universally opposing autonomy for breakaway regions all over the world because they don't want to encourage their own breakaway regions (Chechnya, Dagestan).

The Colbert Report: A Rare Behind-the-Scenes Look
Josh Marshall (the host, from the "Talking Points Memo" blog) is all class. Love that guy.
Donahue and O'Reilly (guess who sucks)
"I don't hate anyone for their different ideas. Why, that just wouldn't be the kind of a thing a freedom-loving person would do--hate someone with a different opinion."
Harlan Ellison (not my favorite person, but a brilliant writer nonetheless) once said, "You are not entitled to your opinion, you are entitled to your informed opinion. If you are not informed on the subject, then your opinion counts for nothing." That's what's wrong with O'Reilly and his ilk--their 'opinions' are so badly misinformed at times, and they just don't care. They believe that the louder you shout, the more truthful you must be.
"I was surprised that O'Reilly actually gave Donahue the last word"
Well, this is O'Reilly's show after all--regardless of what he says to your face, he's going to get the 'last word,' whether it's after the commercial break, or during one of those inane talking points memo a week from today. He'll do it when you're not there.
