How To Get To Mars

Need Help From Music Nerds/Lovers (Music Talk Post)

I don't think it's a sample. It's a piano arpeggiating a root 5th and octave, which is a common device sometimes referred to as a 'pedal point'. The static nature of a 'pedal' provides tension and a constant from which the rest of the music can draw contrast. The 28 Days Later soundtrack has a cue called "In A Heartbeat" that uses a similar intro. Plenty of Thomas Newman and Philip Glass cues start out similarly too.

Look at the big brain on Brett!

Thank you for this, I think my film-soundtrack-addled brain was mixing the 28 Days Later and Moon piano bits. I still get an eerie déjà-entendu everytime I listen to the Muse song...

Beautiful Wave Patterns in Multiple Pendulums

I disagree, the audio on the other one is stupid I'm not calling it, mainly because I'm too lazy to look up if audio is enough of a difference, but if someone else wants to look it up and invoke...>> ^Zawash:

Naw - even though I don't have permissions to invoke it, it's a dupeof=http://videosift.com/video/Wave-Pendulum

One of my favorite memories is seeing Philip Glass and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He did a Q&A before the show and it was wonderful to be in the same room as him. I bet he has lots of crazy groupies like me.

You're welcome. Thanks for freeing my Kaolin vid, too

As you can see, there is currently a 6 month delay between me putting a video on my list of ones to promote and then getting to it File that under "better late than never".

You're only one vid away from bronze, too.

p.s. Is this your lego marble run one?

Thank you for promoting the Powaqqatsi clip I submitted. It's a great piece; I only wish I could have been at the concert! Anyway, thanks again, it's nice to see it published.
