You just fucked with the WRONG McDonald's clerk.

Things I learned from this thread:

1. Women can't hurt you so don't bother defending yourself
2. Women get one free slap at your face while you're at work
3. If someone jumps the counter after slapping you and is advancing with their friend in an unmistakably hostile manner.. pfft don't worry it's just two women you're not being assaulted
4. Using a weapon to even the odds or ward off an attack is actually offense and not self-defense.
5. Always let the attacker keep their upper hand, otherwise you are now the one committing assault
6. All violent altercations are immediately settled when any party's gluteus maximus touches a horizontal ground plane.. so stop hitting and start passing out hugs
7. Any use of the word bitch makes you a horrible misogynist
8. Screaming your head off and contributing even more stress and clamor to a tense and violent situation is commendable
9. If you react violently to being attacked, well you're just a big ol' egomaniac!

Again, if I had it my way this type of video wouldn't be on the 'Sift.

Heya, Lucky! Kudos for the upvote! Er, I actually don't know the Diddy quote! I was thinking of Maximus from the movie Gladiator [link] for the "are you not entertained?" yell.

In reply to this comment by lucky760:
Comment upvote for your P. Diddy quote. Teehee.

From where do you know that quote?

In reply to this comment by Kevlar:
The best part to me is this: Who is he exhorting with his display after the initial stop? Who does he want to cheer?

"YOU THERE! THE BLUE SEAT TWO ROWS IN! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? ARE? YOU? NOT? ENTERTAINED?"

I sailed along the whole island once after visiting it in 2005. It was truly incredible. Remember when Maximus and all of the other gladiators get out of the cart in Gladiator and see the coliseum? It was like that.

^Indeed this film is a revision. But it is based on a good foundation of facts. To make a long story short, Commodus had serious psychological issues (he once put forth a law that all women must lose their virginity by their brothers or cousins, later claiming it was a joke to get a rise out of the Senators). He was prone to public outburst and would easily have been capable of a display like that. Indeed this display might have actually happened as it does in the movie, as he DID mark his father's death with 100 days of gladiatorial games. Man, I really could write a whole book chapter about these two...

I've had a look at your lists and I understand that there is a distinction between the two ideas - and videos that would fall in one and not the other. However we still feel that the overlap is huge.

(If it was a Venn diagram, only a small crescent in each circle would be non-overlapped)

There is a bit of history here too. We originally called the geek channel "tech" but decided deliberately- about a month in to change it to Geek so it would be be more inclusive.

Afterthoughts:

I still think there is a distinct need of a tech channel. My aim is to have videos that discuss technology - old or new, not just show it. The problem isn't that most of the tech videos are geek, it's that people put them in geek - the geek channel is being misused in my opinion. If you will, please review these two lists I have compiled from the first 6 or 7 pages of the geek sifted list. The first is of videos that I feel don't really belong in the geek channel, but would feel more at home in a tech channel.

This second list is for those which I feel do NOT belong in the tech channel, though people might feel urged to place them there - OR - videos that I feel the geek channel was created for.
While they may showcase technology, they don't discuss/explain it.

I do not wish to to be a stubborn prick about this issue, but it's just something that I feel strongly about. If you still don't want it, that's fine, but I was hoping we could put up another one of those polls you had a week ago. If not, I'll just go with "meme" like everyone wanted in Maatc's ST post.

First look at the OLED Optimus Maximus

cheesemoo says...

"Typing on it, well, sucks. We kind of hate to say it, but this thing more than likely won't replace what ever keyboard you're writing your novel on -- it's better off used as an absurdly configurable swiss army knife for tasks like gaming, Photoshop, or just about any other productivity app that doesn't require a lot of typing."

I can't see any reason why anyone would use this keyboard. I mean, it's really cool and all, but the practical value is pretty low. I would not want to game on something like this, it fails at typing, and I don't see why you'd use this for photoshopping. When I'm 'shopping, I just use the normal keyboard shortcuts, don't see any reason to force me to look at my keyboard every time I want to do something else.

Speaking of which, I almost never look at my keyboard as it is, and I don't want to. Why would forcing me to look at my keyboard be a good idea?
