Titanfall Gameplay video @ 1440p

spawnflagger says...

If the next-gen console games supported keyboard and mouse, I would have bought one. It's up to the developers to include KM control, but most don't - citing that it would be unfair in online multiplayer. I think just having a flag/tag that users could search for "gamepad only" online servers would solve that problem. I think there were only 2 PS3 titles that supported USB Keyboard+Mouse (Unreal Tournament and something else). Or even if they allowed KM for single-player campaigns, games like Killzone and Resistance would have been much more enjoyable to me.

So I upgraded my PC to an 8-core AMD FX-8320 + 16GB ram + GTX 750 Ti for less than the cost of Xbox One. (my projector's only 720p, so don't need a high-end GPU to get good framerates)

I am a graphics coder at Respawn. I understand where the claim of a "decade-old-engine" comes from, but I assure you we entirely rewrote the renderer backend and heavily modified the rest.

I'm not an authorized spokesman so I can't confirm anything that we haven't already talked about publicly, but pretty basic insight confirms what I've said: for example, all modern PCs and consoles use DX11-class GPUs and the "decade-old-engine" you mention only supported DX8 and DX9.

Anyway, I'm really glad you like the game! We've worked hard on it and hope it does well.

What's the Parappa reference? Is it the thing that moves out of view from behind the dogs just as the soldiers enter?
>> ^Shepppard:
So, this video makes reference to:
CoD (or, generic WWII shooters), Twisted Metal, Parappa the Rappa, Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy, Killzone, Uncharted, God of War, Portal, Infamous, Tekken, MLB/NFL generic games, Metal Gear, Modern Warfare 3, Dead Space, Bioshock, Hitman, Resistance and Assassins Creed.
Not sure if the bartender is supposed to be from somewhere, though.

Nope, that's the Mk.II or III, whichever is in MGS4, the parappa is on the wall behind the chick in the booth, it's just a crappy little drawing, but it's a dog in a red hat with a purple shirt.

Pause at 31 seconds, just before it switches back to the two soldiers, he's on the right side.

Zero Punctuation: Killzone 3

Zero Punctuation: Killzone 3

PHJF says...

Yahtzee my dear boy, that's because the controls are identical to those in Killzone 2. Right, they weren't the most sensible controls then, either, but changing them at this point would induce much wrath.

Zero Punctuation: Heavy Rain

NetRunner says...

@Xax, buy yourself a PS3 slim, God of War 3, and Uncharted 2. Once you're done with those two games, buying the PS3 will seem like a damn smart idea, especially if you don't already have a bluray player.

Then you can do things like try Heavy Rain, Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous, Ratchet & Clank Future, Resistance 2, and Gran Turismo 5 when it finally comes out.

Oh yeah, and Killzone 2, if you're into that sort of thing.

Half-Life 2: Portal

Favorite Games of 2008 (Videogames Talk Post)

CaptainPlanet420 says...

Oh dear, you're all pretty new to gaming, huh? 2008 was prolly the worst year of the past 15 years for gaming. As for my fav's up to 2008, they are:

1. Big Rigs
2. Kill Zone
3. Night Trap
4. All the Naruto games
5. Killzone 2

GameTrailers: 2008 Game of the Year

Deano says...

For me, 2008 wasn't that great a gaming year. GTAIV annoyed me eventually. Like Vice City it has many joyous moments then I came across a bit that really put me off. GTAIV didn't feel focused enough particularly with these silly tasks to maintain relationships. No more bowling for me!

The best game I played was Mass Effect from 2007. Prince of Persia and Uncharted were both nice but since recently acquiring a PS3 I don't see anything else that interests me.

I'm beginning to think that 2010 might be the next great gaming year. Certainly Mass Effect 2 will be out by then and maybe KillZone 2

Final Fantasy XIII - E3 Trailer

mas8705 says...

Looking back on the trailer for FFXIII, I seriously could compare this with the first trailer of Killzone 2... It looks pretty, and promising, but unreal... The action sequence shown here doesn't look something that can't be done in real time or even scripted for that matter... I hope that as it nears completion, we get to see what it will actually look like...

Half-Life 2: Portal

Sylvester_Ink says...

CaptainPlanet, Killzone 2 is a completely different game. Portal is a puzzle-based game, whereas Killzone 2 is a standard FPS, so you can't compare the two. It would be more apt to compare Killzone 2 to Half Life 2.
