Pretty good race. I gave up on the 2014 season about halfway through, and though it's still almost certainly going to be a Mercedes year, I'm pretty hopeful that there will at least be some good races.

If Red Bull ends up a Ferrari customer for 2016 such as rumors were suggesting at one point, and Honda makes their engine competitive within the stupid development rules (or the rules are relaxed), maybe things will be okay by then.

I think the next step is to allow them to to put venturis under the cars using similar regulations to the Champcars in their heyday (no skirts and ride height minimums so it's more like bonus downforce). Even the DW12's today don't suffer dirty air anything like the F1 cars do. Of course, I'm not an aerodynamics expert and I'm sure the F1 designers put a lot of thought into designing their cars specifically so that they screw with the aero of any following car, so who knows how that would work. Also, the Champcars were a lot closer to a spec series than F1 is.

Pretty good, and a good advancement in snow tires, but I'm sorry, this is no where NEAR the "fastest speed ever recorded for tractors" as they imply, maybe the 'fastest speed for unmodified (except for software, which is everything on new computer controlled motors) commercially available tractors on commercially available unmodified tires on ice'....
...because even lawn tractors have gone WAY faster, over 130MPH....

And according to Wikipedia, drag-pulling tractors theoretically reach over 200kph in short distances all the time.

I've never seen this on any of the 5 cars I've owned, nor any of my parents' cars (all together that's 1 Honda, 1 Mazda, 3 VWs, 3 Toyotas, 2 Fords, 1 Chevy, 1 BMW, 1 Geo, and 1 Dodge).

I just witnessed the exact same type of accident today from nearly the same vantage point. Little Honda or Acura ran a red and T Boned a little Ranger pickup that had the green.

I think everyone kind of has the right idea. The honda doesn't start making it's power until about 8,000 rpm. (My S1000RR feels asleep until 6000) You have to be riding like you stole it, and it takes more than the 2 seconds that the race lasted to get up to those revs. The honda rider seemed rather timid / inexperienced, and hildo really seemed to know his stuff. Also, those big v-twins make loads of power off the line.

I think it has more to do with the torque curves of the two engines, and perhaps the lower centre of gravity and gearing ratios. I'd expect the rat bike to do fairly well against a gokart actually... at least over the same distance

The Honda should certainly have smoked him over a slightly longer distance and would win fairly easily on top speed, even if 180hp might be a slight exaggeration.

I imagine a 50 hp gocart would have smoked the Harley. The smaller, the lighter, the faster off the line. I trust the Honda would have won over distance or for top speed.
