There's a guy on DA named Noel Cruz who repaints dolls and action figures to make them look more like the real person (the actor or actress) they represent. It's not quite as charming as all this, but it's really impressive work.

When he pulls that lever, the whole press shifts, I'm pretty sure the Gutenberg wouldn't move like that. A Gutenberg is between 1 & 2 tonnes.
They don't show any distinguishing marks. In my opinion, if it was, they would have showed the emblem, (just to show off.)

I've used many presses like these, and hand-bound my own books, even made my own paper to use in the press. This is purely a hobby or small run use purposes. The amount of work that goes into setting all that lead type takes so long and the print run is so unpredictable, that it's just not profitable on any level to create full books like these. Nostalgic and cool yes. but you'd have to sell for several hundred dollars for for the book, and sell mass quantities. I hope the art form never dies though.

One of the professors at the college I work at, teaches sections on typesetting and printing on typesetting presses. He has his own publishing house and produces jobs for people.

I do. There's no 'substance' to most of the peanut-gallery chit-chatter on this site from it's most active users, yourself and small cadre of ass-scratchers providing the fodder for my consternation enhancing the bitterness in my cooling coffee...

Or perhaps you'd like to digress further with more clever scatology??

How about an alternate star system for non-video-posting members? Perhaps a special peanut gallery badge for people who have been an active member for a year, or have posted 100 comments or cast 100 votes? Give blocked/nsfw/related/channel assignment at that point.

You could even have a gold peanut badge equivalent to gold star at some higher level (5 years?).

On a related note, should siftbot really award x years of membership badges to members who haven't logged in for the last 12 months?

I'm sorry but I'm gonna call ~half-fake~ (drew on a photo, some parts are being masked out). Go to this guys gallery. He is good. He is very good. But no other picture of his, even those done in PS come close to this level of detail.

Can you point me towards a comparable situation? I can't recall a situation where he was making an emotional plea about an important topic and was ripped for his usual stutter. People like Jon Stewart pick their spots. Comedy is about timing.

That doesn't bother me. He's plenty self deprecating about his "book smahts." My issue is with context. 99 percent of the time you could crack these jokes in his face and he'd laugh right along with you. If you did it here, he'd rip you in half. The guy grew up dirt ass poor in rural georgia. He made himself a millionaire. What does he need to do for the peanut gallery to shut the fuck up for 2 minutes while he talks about something important? If he was being granted a shred of respect, they would.

Come on guys, it's not like ulysses1904 hasn't had a bevy of accomplishments of his/her own. Why, I remember the other day seeing one of his/her sculptures in an art gallery and in addition to being totally grown up, it was 100% original: not a shred of derivative inspiration.

So take that, you naysayers! I'm what you'd call a fan of his/her work.
