Just add LCD and you have days of excitement.

CRT is my drug of choice.

Also wow, the intensity really picked up towards the end. Sounded exactly like the first evolution you have in the game Space Invaders Infinity Gene for the iPhone. They probably used one of these buggers for that sound effect.

I still have mine and still use it to record crappy shows (don't care for HD quality -- actually, don't even have one since I still use a 20" CRT TV from 1996).

Yeah, you have to watch out - they dumbed down the subtitles on the US copies quite a lot of the flowery speech is lost. Although it doesn't detract from the film that much.
If you're looking for a half decent bluray player, I'm pretty sure you could pick up second hand ps3 pretty cheap - they can also double up as a media center for you :]

Maybe I will wait for that instead, but I don't have a HDTV and BR player yet.

Interesting. I wonder if the VHS tape version I saw dumbed down. I only recall visually nice movie, but OK story. As for BR player, I need a HDTV first but that won't happen until my 1996's 20" CRT TV shows problems or die. [grin]

"I haven't seen ANY flatscreens, including TFT, that show rich and accurate colors. Even with graphic designers' monitors. CRT FTW."

although You might not get the same contrast in blacks with TFT you get a crispness not possible with CRT , also majority of people viewing digital content are using TFT screens , most TFT screens also have the advantage of being 1-1 pixel mapped.

if you are doing stuff for print i still would prefer to use a TFT to work on the image due to the pixel clarity as for colours and contrast you would send out a sample/samples to the printers to make sue you are getting what you actually want back.

In short all the benofits of TFT outway CRT by far.

still love old school 70s,80s vector graphics on a CRT or oscilloscope graphics but other than that and specific artistic motivations CRT is largely redundant.

yeah I still have a CRT tv well I stole it of sum-one that moved out my house , but for a computer monitor its pretty mental , one of the guys I lived with was using one so I have him one of my TFTs lol.
for computer use a TFT is infinatly better , in many cases you would be better of scraping the crt and getting a cheep tft , purely to save on electricity , and save your eyes from strain.

"I use an analog to digital antenna converter box." -- How without the converter box and over the air (OTA) with antennae (rabbit ears for me).

Anyways, I have two HDTV tuner cards in my PC (not always on and not recording everything like reality shows) and an old CRT TV+VCR+DTV Pal converter box as a backup.

Rachel Maddow: Racist Roots of Arizona Law

NordlichReiter says...

Halt! Ich bin ein Offizier des Gesetzes! Alle von euch, Papiere bitte.

The Godwin is so easy, but its exactly why we have a constitution that allows for citizens the right to be free.

This law does exactly what I feared. Stop and Identify, no you are not free to go. You must first Identify.

The problem with this law, is that it will enable racial profiling, to be legal, when at the federal level it is not legal.

So just because I look Slavic, Irish, or Russian means that I have to identify? Perhaps if the majority where a darker pigmentation then the whites would have to stop and identify? Its so uncomplicated from a place of relative comfort. I weep for the state of Arizona's civil rights, where it is not so civil to be right.

See the link below for the Federal Stance on Racial Profiling, section 1 I. GUIDANCE FOR FEDERAL OFFICIALS ENGAGED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES

Modern Warfare - Drone Controllers At Work

NordlichReiter says...

You know that delightful red spray that shoots out of someones body when a projectile traveling at high speeds hits them? Or the wonderful mixture of shrapnel, shit, and intestines when someone blows up? What about the arterial splatter that is caused by severing the Carotid artery?

Well these guys don't get to witness that first hand, they see it through a CRT or LCD there's no direct threat to their lives; unlike an infantryman. Who's to say that the target is legit? The boss, well how about that Milgram_experiment? How do you know you made a righteous kill? Because someone told them so? I'm sure that will put a whole new spin on the Nuremberg Defense. The fact of the matter is this, it's fucking complicated. Made more complicated by the fact that they are pulling the trigger from the comfort of they're god damned arm chair.

It's a lot like lethal injection. Lethal injection makes it easier for a killer to kill. Make no mistake about it, if you take part in killing someone, even if it is lawful you are still a killer.

But, it is noted that even drone pilots get PTSD, and for good reason. They get to go home like nothing fucking happened. In my mind that makes it worse.

Footage of what a predator drone sees, caution I didn't watch it all but someone probably died. It's liveleak.com after all.
