im sorry people but this guys an idiot, another republican talking about deregulation. STILL. one of the main causes of the bank insurance companies crash and burn. (the rules covering over leveraging were removed)
And crying about deficits o m f g. really? Why do people keep sifting this guy? Are we supposed to be laughing at him? I dont understand. Didnt the republicans have complete control of the white house and the congress from 2000-2006?? why didnt they accomplish these things????

Regulation of Credit Default Swaps would have significantly reduced, and possibly eliminated the problem we are currently having, we would not have had as large a real-estate bubble, nor as large a crash, banks would probably not have evaporated under the strain of what remained.

As for throwing money at the solution, I don't really buy that it will be done in a way that helps. If I had to solve it I would spend every penny on infrastructure, which is in effect a blanket subsidy of the economy, without being a "stick it in your pocket and run away" sort of bail-out, as we saw with the banks.

Spending on regulation and enforcement could have helped, but at this point I don't really expect anything but crash and burn. When mobs of people are starving in the street, then Washington will pay to put them all back to work rebuilding the electrical grid, mostly because that's cheaper than prison, or revolution, until then I don't think much of what they spend will do any good.

That's fine, but I sure don't see many people here posting vids blasting Obama and a lot of slobbering over anything he says/does. The proof is in the pudding, and for the most part the sift's pudding is pure, unadulterated, apparently unthinking Obama fanboism. The stimulus package and Obama's propogandistic "Pass it now or DIE!" rhetoric should outrage any person with two brain cells to rub together. Criticism, where art thou? I only wish that Republicans had voted for it, so that when it crashes and burns the economy we as voters would finally have to guts to toss every last one of these bozos into the gutter and get some real fiscal conservatives into power.

Instead I greatly fear that in the next 4 years from now we're going to have: 1. Nationalized health care, 2. Unregulated illegal immigration, 3. Government control over salaries, 4. Nationalized unions on all businesses, 5. Government run banks, 6. Government run mortgages. Like Social Security, once the government nationalizes sectors of the economy it will never go away. At that point it won't matter if Republicans or whoever gets elected. They'll just be different foxes in charge of the same henhouse because no political party is going to voluntarily DECREASE the amount of power and influence they have. Once that happens the only possible next step is revolution and (probably) a subsequent balkanization.

Ideally the companies that get "bailouts" should just crash and burn. It sucks for the people working for them, but that is the only way to properly get the economy back on track. Either the companies goes down or the country goes down.

This is hillarious... Those two produce mediocre content at enormous expense. The industry doesn't need any bailout. They're just getting out-competed by other businessmen in the same industry.

Same deal with the American auto makers who produce very expensive yet shitty cars compared to manufacturers elsewhere. Let those companies crash and burn while providing a safety net for their employees that will help them find other jobs.

Elimination of obsolete and inefficient jobs is essential to having an efficient economy in the long run. Those people will eventually find more productive jobs elsewhere.

I like animated shows as much as the next guy and I like Family Guy, but this is going to crash and burn so hard. I did enjoy the bear, though.
