Bucky Balls FTW!
Magnet Guru
From the brilliant mind of R. Buckminster Fuller, Bucky Balls.
Bucky Balls
>> ^brycewi19:
Step 1: Magnetize small ball bearings
Step 2: ?
Step 3: Profit!
Not even that interesting. Those magnetic balls are already an industrial product. Just find a supplier, buy in bulk, repackage and ....profit.

Bucky Balls
>> ^budzos:
I think "Buckyballs" is a fine name, especially if you know who/what it refers to . I'm all for risque humor but life really starts to get tiresome when any utterance of the word "balls" is considered funny.
Unlike kids trying to shove remotes up their asses. Now THAT's comedy.
balls.

Says the guy with a profile picture of a kid shoving a remote control up his ass ;-).

Bucky Balls
Carbon Bucky Balls and the more useful Bucky Tubes are probably the coolest thing we'll see in our lifetimes.
Wikipedia "In 2000, a multi-walled carbon nanotube was tested to have a tensile strength of 63 gigapascals (GPa). (This, for illustration, translates into the ability to endure weight of 6300 kg on a cable with cross-section of 1 mm2.) Since carbon nanotubes have a low density for a solid of 1.3 to 1.4 g·cm−3,[5] its specific strength of up to 48,000 kN·m·kg−1 is the best of known materials, compared to high-carbon steel's 154 kN·m·kg−1."
That's 311 times stronger than high carbon steel, when they figure out how to mass produce them it will absolutely revolutionize materials science, things that are completely out of reach now like a space elevator will become possible. This is science fiction in real life and probably in most of our lifetimes.
So... Pretty cool name, the lame magnets really don't measure up to their namesake at all.
Bucky Balls
Cool as this is - although they're not really buckyballs - am I the only one who thinks "BuckyBalls" is a slightly unfortunate name for a childrens' (OK, adults' too) toy? I mean, the official site for these is getbuckyballs.com...
Mom! My balls are bucky!

Zen & The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert Pirsig
That was a good book. Read it back in college.
Vonnegut is great; he can be so deep and funny all at the same time.
Bucky Fuller's "Utopia or Oblivian" is also a keeper.
