CIA Chief of Station in Berlin has just been expelled from the country. Pointless symbolism, but I'll take it.

German prostitutes in Berlin on the Oranienburger strasse
May be simply a matter of beauty being as always, residing in the eye of the beholder there newtboy, and that the ugly or judgmental aspects of one's personal preference lurks as some superficial and systemic admission of a personal failing with regard to people in whatever capacity they find themselves in through the necessity of of their chosen profession.
Besides my personal disdain for such a flippant and overtly less than laughable comment, try and find this "five dollar hoe" you speak of anywhere in Berlin besides at some used gardening supply store or estate sale.

Pretty effective ad from the Berlin Board of Tourism.
flirting with german girls, in german
I'll be in Hamburg next weekend, and Berlin two weeks later. This might come in handy. ;-)
Swim for your life out of the GDR!
Amazing. My parents lived in West Berlin from 1966-68, just before I was born, and witnessed this kind of thing first-hand. These people were very lucky. People were machine-gunned in similar situations. In some cases they weren't even trying to escape, but just found themselves on the wrong side of a buoy.
Snowden outlines his motivations during first tv interview
@Yogi
Releasing everything in one big pile didn't get us anywhere in case of the Afghan War Logs, the Iraqi War Logs or the Gitmo Files. Piece by piece keeps it front and center, at least over here in Europe. Not to mention the fact that it also nullifies all criticisms of careless dumping of sensitive info, which reduces his risk of lead poisoning.

He wouldn't be stuck in Russia if a) the US hadn't canceled his passport and b) the entirety of Europe wasn't such whipped dogs. If, for instance, Germany had offered him asylum, he'd probably be in Berlin right now, just like Laura Poitras, Sarah Harrison and Jacob Appelbaum.
And no, I don't think the Russians, the Chinese, or anyone for that matter, have gained access to his hardware before he handed everything over to Greenwald amongst others. Snowden knows what he's doing.
If, however, you don't think that crypto works, then I can't convince you otherwise.

The copyright owner, a German public broadcaster, made sure it's geofucked on YouTube. By the time I submitted this, DailyMotion was the only source available without a German proxy. That said, Adblock Edge + Ghostery + NoScript and you don't have to endure any ads on DailyMotion.
US spies on allies for business intel, not national security
Industrial espionage? No shit, Sherlock.
May I point out that "Der Spiegel" published classified information about the stations Bad Aibling, Teufelsberg and Gablingen in 1989, thereby revealing how these stations were used to spy on West German politicians and corporations? Does anybody think the Special Collection Service set up shop in Frankfurt and Berlin to spy on the North Koreans?
We've been on the receiving end of this since 1945, and we know it. There are no friends among nations, there are only interests.

Also this.
"Mr. Miranda was in Berlin to deliver documents related to Mr. Greenwald’s investigation into government surveillance to Ms. Poitras, Mr. Greenwald said. Ms. Poitras, in turn, gave Mr. Miranda different documents to pass to Mr. Greenwald. Those documents, which were stored on encrypted thumb drives, were confiscated by airport security, Mr. Greenwald said. All of the documents came from the trove of materials provided to the two journalists by Mr. Snowden. The British authorities seized all of his electronic media — including video games, DVDs and data storage devices — and did not return them, Mr. Greenwald said."
One ticked off Gorilla - at the Dallas Zoo
They have a silverback at Berlin Zoo that does this all the time. He sits perfectly still right by the window until he draws a big enough crowd of kids and parents, then BAM! he hits his fists against the window and scares the shit out of everyone. Short clip (poor quality) of it here. I am sure it is pure frustration and not fun for him though.
Poor creatures.
That being said, here is one of him hurling grass at the workers.
NSA to FBI Deputy Director: I Owe your boss a friggin beer!
They need to confirm publicly that everything's fine, just fine. Maybe a slight bending of the law here and there, but that'll be fixed lickety-split. Then everybody can change back to American Idol.
Smoke and mirrors, just like Obama's speech in front of some 4000 claqueurs in Berlin today. I couldn't decide who I wanted to punch more, him or his frenetic drones. Probably my lickspittle government, most of all.
So no one bothered to show up it looks like. Makes sense, they don't want this going anywhere.
A Pop Culture Nostalgia Trip to the Year 1986
Oh, and Berlin - Take My Breath Away (10:58)
I include because I had SUCH a crush on Terri Nunn, although "No More Words" was better, it doesn't fall within 1986.
Louis CK - Of Course But Maybe
http://www.usnews.com/science/articles/2010/01/12/egypt-new-find-shows-slaves-didnt-build-pyramids
"Dieter Wildung, a former director of Berlin's Egyptian Museum, said it is "common knowledge in serious Egyptology" that the pyramid builders were not slaves and that the construction of the pyramids and the story of the Israelites in Egypt were separated by hundreds of years."
Other than, you know, the fact they exist and the ancient Egyptians actually wrote that into the sides of the things.

How about Argentinian animator Luis Suárez draws on traditional Argentine themes, a fertile imagination, and the music of Mati Zundel in this Smog studio production. This project was part of Pictoplasma Screening 2012 in Berlin and New York.
