Little Girl Catches Big Fish

newtboy says...

I really think this was 'faked' by dad, trying to let his little girls reel in a big (pre-caught) fish....here's my reasoning.

First, that looks like a huge fish for what looks like a small pond (but the pond may be larger than it looks).
Second, we don't see her hook it, just reel it in.
Third, that fish is totally exhausted, not putting up the fight a fresh caught bass would give.
Fourth, pops doesn't grab the pole and reel it in for her...like a normal fisherman would do...he lets his little girl reel in what is a huge catch and takes his time reaching to grab it as if he knew she wouldn't lose it (and like he was not really excited by the 'catch').
Fifth, and most telling, his other daughter asks him to 'put that on my fishing pole'...like he had just put it on the first girls pole and now it's her turn.
Sixth....I noticed that the fish is double hooked, one in each side of it's mouth. That rarely if ever happens, you would expect one to be deep in it's mouth, not both in the corners.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure seemed like a set up to me.

3-piece teen girl cover of Enter Sandman

Fuck true metal? It's mostly a joke, dude, not a sense of entitlement. You want to read entitlement and serious judgement in my comments? By all means, chaotic fool, use it as a platform for your Internet social gain. But I'm speaking from the perspective of someone with years of knowledge passing it down. I cited songs which Metallica wrote and played which are hard and fast, raw and powerful, exuding the youthful energy of their best albums, which are for some reason blacklisted and instead we hear the songs that the recording industry WANT you to hear because they're marketable. The songs I listed are awesome and considered by some to be the real gift Metallica left us with, like Van Halen's first 4 albums.

I bestowed a gift, and you saw me being high and mighty for my gain? Sounds like YOU have some problems to deal with.

I dont only listen to metal. I played sax, guitar, bass, and drums, but now mostly play percussion -- I like hitting things. I was in a rolling Stones and velvet underground cover band, played some gospel folks stuff for a while. I provided my perspective on metal because I thought it beneficial. For the music obsessed, hearing something over and over on the radio for the remainder of your life, when there is better material from the band and the idea of popularity as some sort of higher value than the subtleties you pick up on when you have standards, it's all very silly to read. You are a jerk and now I'm sad.

Thanks. Gift horse doesn't like staring contests.

And here we see one of the reasons I stopped listening to metal for a while.

Fuck "true" metal and anyone who says they know what is or isn't "real" metal. You go down that path and you end up listening to nothing but Manowar.

It's either a good heavy song or it isn't.

Sandman's pretty far from my favourite Metallica track, but it's a decent tune and a good "gateway drug" into heavier stuff.

I prefer the earlier PMJ version of this, because Kate Davis has a beautiful Patsy-Cline-ish-country-soul voice that works well with this particular arrangement (and she plays the bass) but this is still excellent. And I will be at their London gig this Sunday!

Story Of The Bass

SquidCap says...

Funny to see Roger Waters included in there. The man is pretty poor musician, he admits it freely. In Pink Floyd you had mediocre drummer, barely capable bass player, genius guitarist and great keyboard player. What makes Waters great is his song writing, not the musicianship.

If you're ever in LA, check out Jon Brion at the Largo. He's a film composer (Punch Drunk Love, I Heart Huckabees), record producer, who also happens to be a multi-instrumentalist that puts on a live layered loop show, doing everything from a traditional drum kit, to bass, all styles of guitar, and piano. I've watched him go from Mozart to honky tonk piano and then up into industrial noise, on into a Detroit rock medley, using only the music he recorded on stage. First time I saw the show in this little low lit club facing a small stage, I had the biggest hard on. I went to jerk off in the bathroom and Fiona Apple walked out. Sorry if I'm being a bit raw here, but it was THAT good.

I'm always impressed when someone can build layers with loops live like that.

At first I thought you were trolling, then I hoped you might flounder... in the end though I think you landed the big one without making a bass of yourself.

Oh good cod that's totally fake! He totally left the fish on porpoise, just for the halibut otherwise he would have let out a killer wail. That fish has watched this video like 100 times, she's hooked. I wonder if instead of awkwardly shambling around the plaice he could have tried to skate or ride a pike. Its a good job he filmed it - his friends probably aren't gillable enough to fall for a tall dory like this. Without fish eel have to grin and bare a gouda or other dairy comestible - either whey it'll be a scale down from the dinner he wanted. Sorry, couldn't kelp myself - have to learn reel myself in from time to time salmon ought to stop me before I make anemone. Fin.
