The Amazing Spider-Man - Trailer

Really? Oh dear... The first two Spiderman films were pretty damned decent, it was only the third one with that black goo stuff that spoiled the trilogy. Toby Maguire was perfectly cast for the role, he was almost exactly what I anticipated from the comics.
Next up: Lord of the Rings - Back to Middle Earth.

That "black goo stuff" gave us Carnage. Don't diss on the BGS just because you only got to meet Venom.

Just sayin'.

How Battlestar Galactica Can Totally Ruin your Life

Oh i know that effect all to well. Happened to me with Breaking Bad, Dexter (well, not series 05 and 06), Game of Thrones, Sons of Anarchy and The Wire. I spent whole days and nights in front of the TV for those. But BG? Meh. :-)

It's good sci-fi. Follows a serialized format with a story arch lasting the season. The allegories are really good (Iraq war, Terrorism) which I think was season 3.. and of course everyones favourite Cylon who you want to frak (sorry, nerdy BG joke).

The problem with the show for me, is that they didn't know where they were going with the stories. Running into the same problem that 'Lost' did with many loose threads, making season 4 (the final series) the worst by far, ending with an un satisfying conclusion. There were also some heavy religious beats throughout the series which I didn't care for.

But the video is accurate, at the end of every episode "Awww you can't leave my hanging on that, let's watch the next one".>> ^zombieater:

So is it good?

Derren Brown on Appearance and Reality

bareboards2 says...

This reminds me of the early days of filmmaking. Plot point is young man takes a young woman to dinner on a date. Early days of film, they would show every single step -- him calling her, going down the road, going to her house, knocking on the door, getting in the car, walking in the restaurant.

It didn't take long for the filmmakers to realize that our minds already know the story (ABCDEFG) and we don't need the whole alphabet -- and they would do BG -- phone call and walking into restaurant.

Humans are good at story. It is instinctive.

I like how positive this video is about human nature.
