Interstellar - Honest Trailers
I enjoyed it. I don't understand many of the criticisms - it's a film, were we somehow expecting to have our humanity validated by it? A scientifically accurate description of a mission would be boring - they'd almost certainly die in the wormhole.
The science wasn't unreasonable. It was a lot closer to reality than anything in star trek or star wars. Anne Hathaway's character muses on the power of love and suddenly it's a force of the universe? My memory might be flawed, but i don't remember hearing anyone confirm that or discuss it - in fact, the state her "lover" was in was kind of contrary to the opinion she gave and certainty to how she felt. We really do have no idea about black holes, either, so for all we know it could be manipulated by some future technology. The tesseract "library" was an interesting take on time travel/time manipulation.
The only thing that broke my suspension of disbelief was the bit when they said they thought they had years of good readings from the water planet due to time dilation. But that doesn't make any sense, because the number of signal pulses sent from the surface must equal the number of signal pulses received in orbit. My best guess is that the pulses would be elongated and have their wavelength shifted, possibly, but one thing i am certain of is that the total number can't be different.
The problem is, the older you get, the more you know about science, the less faith you have to put in films to give you a mind-bending experience that works on so many levels. None of it is plausible, so why rule it out based on what Hathaway thinks about the nature of love, or anything else?
Good film! And funny video. Someone's got to defend it though!
Jimmy sings "Barbara Ann" with Five Wax Jimmys
That song is called Barbara Ann???
Mind = blown.
All these decades of my life I've never seen it written and I've thought it was a meaningless, kitschy "Bop bop bop - bop bop a ran."
In the immortal words of Jimi Hendrix, "Excuse me while I kiss this guy..."
Fascinating autism test for "theory of the mind" in children
I've always said this "Sally-Anne" scenario doesn't just reveal something about the autistic mind. I see it in people every day, particularly as an IT tech. Some people just don't have an intrinsic understanding that others are not seeing the images in their head when they are describing something, using vague pronouns and ambiguous terms that make sense in their head. They are incapable of "reading my mind" to know that I can't read their mind.
They don't seem to understand that others were not in the room experiencing their computer problems along with them, and then act put out while I ask 20 questions to ask them to describe what the hell is going on. Usually with an impatient air of "why am I asking all of these redundant questions? "
And it has nothing to do with being computer literate, and everything to do with not recognizing that I don't share your perspective without some more info. I work with many techno-phobes who don't have to be coached like that.
BTW, repeating"I can't log in, it won't let me" has been used to describe countless scenarios, you might as well ask me to guess which card you just picked out of a deck.

Last Week Tonight - Ferguson and Police Militarization
How do you know his death was unnecessary? I hope you posted this before you learned that the kid had a tussle with the cop, went for his gun and it was discharged during this event.
After that he ran away then charged " Bum Rushed" the cop. and received 6 pills, 4 in the arm and 2 in he head.
The right weapon was used.
The issue is not that a white cop shot a black. It is the fact that a majority of young black men are swept up by the streets. Which leads to disproportional black arrest, crimes, and general mayhem. We are all a product of our choices. He chose to be a thug.
And this young sweet collage bound gentle giant that the media hypes up day an night does not help.
He is a young large thug with criminal history as seen by his arrest record:

no matter how you spin it, the death was unnecessary. Again, this WOULD have been a great time to use a taser.
They keep using the wrong weapons at the wrong time.
Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains How Rich Bill Gates Is
Y'know, I thought I was doing pretty good for myself because I live in Queen Anne. Then one day, I visited Medina . . . aaand I didn't feel so high-and-mighty afterward.

Excuse me sir, can you spare $39,999 for some coffee?
5 'Game of Thrones' Plotlines Ripped Right Out of History
1. Monarchies historically existed.
2. Contested thrones and succession wars really happened
3. We built a wall in Germany, and a metaphorical Iron Curtain.
4. Polytheistic beliefs really were in tension with monotheistic ones
0. Natalie Dormer played Anne Boleyn
5. People used to fight with swords.
But of course, the genre - Fantasy - is practically defined by being set in a period analogous to a mashup of 800-1500 CE with the twist that some of the ideas of the time are actually true (gods, demons, magic, fantastic animals etc).
If You've Never Had It Vietnamese Coffee Is Glorious

.. someone else had subnmitted this college grade coffee video?
maybe it should of had some Anne Lennox or Alanis Moresett music to cream the top.
Didn't get it, the video is not about coffee it is just an art film disguised as a how to. I came into this with a How to in mind.
The Lilly Ann workout
That was funny... you can tell by about the half way mark that Lilly Ann has figured out the game and starts 'playing' her dad....
Godzilla vs. Heisenberg
I would have sex with Ann Coulter to see that movie. Seriously. I'd buy her a strap-on if necessary.
Questions for Statists
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Watch out Anne Coulter - you're about to be disrupted by a younger, nuttier model.

Kevin O'Leary on global inequality: "It's fantastic!"
A few years ago this guy was a nobody insofar as the media was concerned. Then he started playing the 'baddie' on Shark Tank and the Canadian version of Dragons' Den.
I think this guy is borrowing a page from the likes of Ann Coulter and other right-wing talking heads. Essentially, they are media whores who know that controversy helps to sell their books, programs, lecture circuit, investments... their 'celebrity-ness'. So they say outrageous stuff because they know it gets them face time in our dumbed down media. How do you think it ended up here on Videosift?
Whether they actually believe their own shit... who knows?
Heart - Magic Man Live
Ah, interesting... very different & spirited vocal from Ann Wilson. Cool stuff. And yet - although Ann Wilson is singing live - the rest of the band is faking along to a pre-recorded backing track. Not uncommon in those days for TV guest spots. (And, of course, de rigueur along with "vocal support track" for any aspiring ingenue pop star these days.)
Also, check out Luke Skywalker, faking it on lead guitar! Complete with, uh, some sort of concealed light saber weapon...
