TeaParty Congressman Blames Park Ranger for Shutdown
And one small faction of the Republicans promised even before the 2010 elections that they were going to shut the government down. They've continued to make exactly that claim for 3+ years now...why would anyone be surprised they have done exactly that. It's not even an issue with the ACA, they're out to destroy the government.
And if it wasn't for a ball-less, spineless Speaker of the House, they couldn't have done it. All he had to do was offer a vote on the compromise "clean" funding resolution the Senate sent back to the House, which would very likely pass. But he appears to be more concerned about losing his position than he is about working to make things better for the citizens of this country.
Disagree:
One party - the Democrats - want to preserve the status quo, but tweak it just a little.
The other party - the Republicans - want to privatize all levels of government, and service the rentiers.
30 years of money moving into the hands of fewer and fewer people is not because of "both sides". It is because of the overwhelming force of one side, and the weak capitulation of the other.
Vote: It's Your Turn to Speak Out
There are a lot of insults lobbed in this collection of video clips, but no direct evidence of who the insults are aimed at. It is as if the Media Research Center thought that all tea-party folk would recognize themselves by way of the insults. That is harsh MRC. Not all tea-party members are extremist reactionary homophobic racists. And if this video really only pertains to those that are extremist reactionary homophobic racists, then the media really does have them figured out. This video makes no sense.
Bonus:
Voter turnout for the U.S. 2010 election was at its highest level since 1970 (for a mid-term election). And I gotta say, I don't think forcing babies and convicts to vote is not going to improve things
- Population of California (2010): approx. 37 million
- Eligible voters in California (2010): approx. 22.8 million
- Voter turnout in California (2010): approx. 10.3 million

I've been trying for years to prove to blankfist that all of that free market talk was just a ruse to morally justify economic elitism. Could you confirm to him that this is the case?
You don't have to prove anything. I know what we have today is not a free market but crony capitalism wrapped in free market rhetoric, and that's the way the bankers and corporatists prefer it.

2010 Elections Bought Anonymously by Corporations
Great monologue.
Assuming you are truly an insider, and not just some confused kid trying to emulate an archetypal corporate villain, then why have you spent so much time on this site, rambling inanely about politics? Why are you so adamant about pushing RC cola on Coke and Pepsi fans if it's all the same, corruptible shit?
I've been trying for years to prove to blankfist that all of that free market talk was just a ruse to morally justify economic elitism. Could you confirm to him that this is the case? If you do, I promise to continue to always use the kind of toothpaste you want me to use (Why Aquafresh?). Anyway, I think you might have helped my side of the argument here today. Thank you for that.
BTW, who did you vote for?
>> ^imstellar28:
Interesting, tell me please who you voted for this week? If you think the democratic party hasn't been bought and sold by corporations a hundred times over, you are quite delusional indeed...
Let me tell you as an insider, we couldn't be more amused that the internet is filled with the inane babblings of people who think corporations care whether a "democrat" or "republican" is in power. We could care less who you vote for, as long as you believe it makes a difference. Humans are bought and sold as easy as livestock. We don't need to buy your party, when we can buy you. We control how you spend your time, what you see and hear, what you think you know about the world, even what you want and hope for in life. We control what you eat when you're hungry, what you drink when your thirsty, what you brush your teeth with before you go to bed at night. Your life is nothing but a series of false choices. Coke or Pepsi. You really think it makes a difference to us? You have been helplessly brainwashed. You are nothing but one of millions; silent, droning workers who line our pockets and support our lifestyle.
Thanks for voting!

Why is it you have to watch fucking RUSSIAN TV to get straight news these days???
I'd be careful about calling RT "straight news", it's just got a different agenda than domestic news orgs. It reminds me a lot of Al-jazeera English -- it gives a lot of attention to any story that indicates America isn't the utopia it sells itself as around the world.
As far as factual accuracy, they're interviewing a guy from alternet.org -- maybe they're more accurate than the mainstream press, maybe they're not, but it's not like RT has done original reporting here. They've just given a platform to a fringe-y group in the US to say that the US electoral process is deeply corrupt.
I agree on a gut level with the alternet guy in this case, but I think RT giving this guy a platform doesn't mean they're "straight news." If anything, I think they're just in the business of giving a megaphone to anyone who can make a persuasive case that America sucks, or at a minimum that all that talk from Americans about freedom, democracy, rights, equality, and prosperity is just a load of propaganda.
