Polls on the sift. Could there be more than one issue at a time?
Why not 2 or more polls at the same time? Are we incapable of delivering verdict on multiple issues at once?
Due to the intense controversy in my last poll, I am putting forward the question that maybe we should have a little more flexibility in the polling process. Perhaps the rule that only one poll be up at a time be amended to 2 polls at a time?
What if there were for instance 2 topics that came up simultaneously that needed to be explored? That way no topic would be left behind and forgotten. On a side note it would cause less controversy when someone makes a "funny" poll.

I don't mind exercising a little patience and waiting for a poll to expire before posting my own. I've done it before. I survived. I even like it -- focuses my attention.
Besides, it isn't as if there is ALWAYS a poll going -- it isn't hot real estate, so to speak.
For the record, I was fine with Albrite's joke poll. I didn't participate because I didn't "get" it -- but s/he is a Sifter. S/he can make a poll about whatever s/he wants. I thought s/he was harshed on out of proportion to any perceived "offense." For the record.
...liked my poll but most thought it in poor taste or ignored it. They call them IGNORamus for a reason...

Though I must say, the outcome regardless of number of participants chose correctly.
Why not simply have a "Poll" page?? Then you can stuff as many unilateral masturbatory exercises there and leave unclogged, the sift talk area~
I hesitate to agree with going all the way into a poll page. I just think that having one reserved spot for and important poll is worthwhile and having one or two "unreserved" poll slots for the rest.

This is a poorly constructed poll that shows the bias of the poster, yes there is *often* more than one issue at a time, that doesn't necessarily mean we need multiple polls.
Also, I question your reasoning for pushing this particular issue. You were called out by many for posting a poll with nonsensical questions and little substance.
I don't want to be a jerk, but I suppose I will. Is this really an issue you feel strongly about or a pride saving exercise?
Sorry in advance for the passive aggressive harshness. ;-)
Now I will agree that the wording of this particular poll could be better. I was irritated at the time so my bias does come out. However with the sacrifice of my pride I do feel that the inclusion of a second poll slot would enhance the sift in a meaningful way. You aren't a jerk @dag to question my motives, it is only right that you do so. I know that the promote issue is a more important one while this one seems fairly minor in comparison.
I understand that having a second option would take time and effort on your part to enable, and that sometimes one just has to trim the "fat" off of work schedules. However I will restate that I honestly believe that this will be to benefit the sift and not just my stupid polling.

OK, sure then - by all means let's continue.

I disagree with your assessment of the content/motivation of your questions: Not passive-aggressive, on the contrary, civil, succinct, and from a neutral and thoughtful position of expressing unspoken thoughts of other users of the site, while appealing to the otherwise disinterested!!
Always the gentleman Dagmar, and I say this to every user of this site from personal recollection of a drunkenly self-absorbed history of pushing Mr. Houston to the limit!!

"I care not." --my friend
lucky760 changed the second poll option from "No, there is never more than one issue at a time." to "No, one poll at a time is good."
Why is there no option for banana?
Voting for this poll ended with the majority of users voting No, one poll at a time is good..
The masses have spoken and polling will remain in its current state. I will discontinue my campaign for one year.
