Sick Sam
I don't know what's bothering him apart from moving stress.. He feels terrible. He ate and drank some today, but can't seem to go to the bathroom. We move Monday too.

aw, poor Sam! Have you gotten any advice from the vet?
Not yet, we have not lived here more than a year..his vet is still in SC. Being that it's the weekend... If he doesn't get any better tomorrow he's going.
Aw I think it's just stress from the move. It's best to be safe though and like you mentioned take him in if it doesn't get better. Feel better Sam!!
He's not better, I'm going to take him to the vet clinic now
Good plan SG.... our oldest basset had the shivering fits a couple times, but it was always related to her back injury causing actual pain. Also I have seen my youngest basset shake for hours after getting into a lot of chocolate (not good) but this was obvious by the mile long trail of nasty dog poop laced with chocolate. I do not underestimate old Sams ability to pick up on changes in your life though, and I suspect there is fully 80% chance the vet will say "He must be nervous." That is my guess. Actually come to think of it, back in 1994 we took Penny (oldest basset) to the vet for shaking and there was nothing obious causing it and it went away after a day or two.
We just got back from the weekend clinic. It was a 45 min drive...Sam thought we were going to MawMaws
An X-ray shows something in his intestines. He did ingest some chicken broth soaked paper towels a couple of days ago. I hope it's not that.
His stomach has food in it, but his intestines are full of gas, and some unknown stuff. Oh, and he did have a fever. He was given some fluids and benedryl for his nerves and came home w/ me. If he's not blocked then the fun should start to happen in about 5 hours.
The Dr did say it could be gastrointeritis ? (spell help) from stress or a combo of that and whatever he ate.
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Get well soon Sam.
Hoping Sam is better this morning?
It's still early to tell. He seems the same to me. I had to help him down the stairs to go out to visit the tree. The dr did have me give him 3 benedryl last night. (seemed like a lot to me) So he is very groggy. I'll just be happy when he goes potty. He still hasn't yet.
I hope he feels better soon too. Thats no fun
get well Sam, we're pulling for you!
Good news is he's "gone" twice today so at least stuffs moving in there Not as great though is he still behaves the same. I had to help him get up this morning and he's been wary and guarded all day. He hasn't been shaking so maybe it's improving just not as fast as we'd like.
He went with us to visit Mawmaw (grandma) for a goodbye lunch and he wasn't even interested in ham. IN HAM! Poor guy.
The movers arrive first thing so I'm crossing my fingers he's not too freaked out by them.
That sounds bad if won't go for the Ham™ I'll be pulling for him as well.
C'mon Sammy boy! Ice cream always made me feel better. It did with Pete Loscoco's dog as well. We used to take Petey's dog to Baskin Robbins. The manager didn't like us too well, but the dog perked right up.
He passed up dinner tonight too and went straight to bed. That picture above is pretty much how he's been for two days. He's snoring some big z's right now. I'll post how he is in the morning before I disconnect the cable modem.
SC, I'll have the icecream though
Well he came downstairs when I called him w/o my having to go and get him. He wanted to stay outside and sniff too.
