Ok but don't they give you a replacement Macbook for the duration of the repair?
A replacement? No, they took my MBA, said '5-7 days' and that was that. It's been 20 days, and they have no idea when I'll be getting it back. That's just piss poor customer service.
I understand saying it'll be between 5-7 days and it being 10 days, or, hell, if you cannot turn it around that quickly, just say it will be however many weeks. Just don't boldly lie about it. Do they make these damn cheap plastic parts only when someone orders a replacement?
The problem is, the Chinese workers cranking out these parts are committing suicide faster than the parts can be created.
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
That sucks. I've heard of that hinge flaw. I hope, at least, they are fixing it for free. To be honest- I've always thought the MBA was a bit of an inferior product. Sure, it's thin and light- but what else does it have going for it?
I'm starting to notice some definite bruises on other Apple products. Things that have pissed me off lately:
Actually, @dag, I have a Mac Pro Tower I use for the heavy lifting, but it's a heavy monster that requires it be rooted. The MBA I purchased specifically for writing (and surfing VS) as it can be taken literally anywhere with little fuss.
Also the MBA fits in a manila envelope. Neat!
Just take it to a different repair sho....oh wait you cant.
Oh! well just order the part yourself and....oh wait you cant.
ISuperglue?

Aside from the lightness though, I don't see much spec-wise that makes it better than a 13" MB Pro - and with it you get a DVD drive, sturdier construction and a cheaper price (much cheaper when the new MBA arrives)

@dag, it really is only the lightness and portability. If you don't need a super slim, lightweight laptop, then skip the MBA for sure.
I had (had because I gave it to my fiancée) a 17" MB Pro, and it's not practical as a laptop to use for writing. It's heavy, clunky and extremely hot.
PC guy here. This is where cheap redundant hardware is really cool.
I bought my same laptop again on ebay for £95 (what's that, $150-$180?). I'm taking that with me on holiday tomorrow to do a bit of work in the evenings. The idea being if the first laptop goes kaput I have an identical replacement lined up.
OK, it's old and crap and runs Windows 2000 but it's the right setup for me and - thankfully, cost-effective.
Anyway, hope you get it back soon!

Yes you can. There's many Apple Authorized service centers.
Oh, and BF. Sucks about your MBA. I'm looking at getting one of those little thingies soon too. So cute and neat and cute.
My XPS rocks. Your MBA doesn't. Switch.
Am so glad I stopped using the Mac Book Pro and switched to a Windows 7 PC, I liked it but I missed familiarity and plus Flash develop is only for windows.
i bet they let the blue smoke out of the CPU
Have you tried Adium?

Not for a couple of years. I use iChat for video chat, because the video compression and call quality is better than Skype.>> ^xxovercastxx:
