This summer's SiftUp in the wild

As an aperitif before the London SiftUp, here is a recount of the trip Almanildo, Haldaug and I took this summer.

Right after I received my old-school VideoSift T-shirt, the three of us went camping across the deep woods  north of Oslo called Nordmarka, which translates to "The Northern Wilderness". (Yes, there is also a western wilderness, an eastern wilderness, and a southern wilderness. Oslo is cool like that.) During the two-day trip, we passed the highest point in these woods, called Kikut. What better place to inaugurate this long-awaited fashion statement? Here it is adorning yours truly for the very first time:

Oslo city is hidden behind the hills in the background.

Here are the three of us quite exhausted from climbing the steep hill up to Kikut:

As you can tell from the pictures, the weather was not the best during the trip, but we were lucky enough to have a break from the downpour during our short detour to the top.  611 meters above sea level is not very high, but it's respectable enough considering it's only 20 km or so from the coastline in the center of Oslo. You can basically walk there in a day from the Oslo subway, through dense forest all the way. And the view is great in all directions. I conquered the top itself shortly after the above pictures were taken:

Here's hoping the next SiftUp will be a little less exhausting, but just as enjoyable.

Very lovely setting for a Sift-up/ get-together. It very much looks like Northwestern Montana (Glacier Park/ Waterton) which DFT and I had just visited last month. I nearly froze my arse off when we visited the town of Waterton, Canada in mid-August. Was it cold where you were at that time? I'm sure what is warm to Norwegians is relatively freezing to me... I've become such a wimp! I don't know how I ever lived in a place that had snow. Thanks for showing us your pix!

This was in July, when it's usually 25-30 degrees Celsius in the Oslo area. But due to the rainy weather, the temperature was just below 20 at the time of this trip. The fact that it was very wet as well did not help.
