Vintage RCA Videodisc player... or, Video from an 'LP'

You thought LaserDiscs were old school. Before LaserDiscs came along using their new fangled lasers, there was RCA Videodiscs, which were basically a record that held video. The format was introduced in 1981 and died in 1986 and was a USA technology from start to finish, which has not been seen since.

This is a great video of someone using one, which shows the caddy system that these players used in order to keep the discs clean.

They fascinate me as they are basically an extension of vinyl records taken to the extreme.
