A Japanese born model in Hong Kong seeks a lover who can share her passions for poetry and calligraphy. She keeps a Pillow Book - her diary. At times the film makes use of multiple simultaneous sequences. Calligraphy on human figures is repeated throughout this Peter Greenaway film. Ewan McGregor stars.
