One Mayhem singer, stage name Maniac (no lie), tried to kill himself and got sent to a mental hospital; the next, Dead, succeeded, blowing his brains out with a shotgun, leaving the note: "Excuse all the blood." Later, their original guitarist was murdered by their bass guitarist, who continues to release solo albums from prison. All of which puts the current line-up, who confine themselves to chopping up pig's heads on stage, rather in the shade.
