Many times the size of an ostrich, elephant birds lived in Madagascar until they died out just a few hundred years ago.
Fifty years ago, while filming in Madagascar, Sir David Attenborough came across the sub-fossil egg of one of these gigantic creatures, some 200 times as large as a chicken egg! Half a century on, he returns in search of an explanation for the demise of this oversized Malagasy wonder.-YT
