I want my MTV!
If you're old enough to remember this, then it's time for your nap
I just sent this this comment to the Sift's reigning feline, and then I thought it might be worth sharing with the rest of you. So here we go, once again.
Have you checked out MTV Music yet? You might be able to find some music videos there that you like, AND you can replace some of your old music video embeds from them too. Go back and look at some of your old music videos (especially your '80s videos), and I'll bet at least 10% of them are dead right now. I know mine were.
You know what sucks? For being MTV, the video quality ain't that great. I've found higher quality videos at Dailymotion. The biggest problem: Dailymotion has a target painted on its back these days just as big as YouTube's. The big labels are hunting down copyright infringers there with a vengeance. Again, I speak from personal experience. That's why I replaced many of my old embeds with the MTV embeds, even if the old ones still worked. I'm tired of replacing embeds 2 or 3 times for some videos because of *deadness. You know what I mean.
MTV's 'Search' function kind of sucks right now too, so don't be afraid to use their alphabetical artist listing on the upper right hand side of the search bar. Another drawback: I think (i.e., I am unsure if) MTV Music is blocked in Canada. However, as much as that sucks, technology exists to get around it. I'm afraid region blocking is the future, so we must all adapt. That includes our neighbors to the north.
Hey, I don't make the rules. I just find ways around them. So do what you must to resurrect your videos, and if you're region cock-blocked, I assure you that solutions exist.
