I would just say that perhaps there is a danger here of confusing gender role and gender identity. The former seems entirely manufactured by society in order to create this false dichotomy of gender. If one happens to like pink, dresses and playing with dolls does make him/her necessarily female? More often than not I'd assume they'd identified themselves as female and then conformed to the gender role, but thats not exactly always the case. Gay men might fall into female gender role but not be female etc.

The uniforms that a country makes their female military members wear is a good indication of the opinion towards women in that country. Here they are wearing pink dresses with some sexy boots. I have seen Russian female soldiers wearing skirts with stiletto heels. Here in Canada women wear the same thing as men except it looks even uglier than what the men wear

alien_concept is my long lost love, stoved away in her British castle somewhere, and some times when I lean in to the wind, I think I can hear her rocking out to Muse, hair down and horns up. Also she's a terrific sifter and awesome person.

I miss UsesProzac, because we were always pretty chummy (we were stalking each other secretly, or not so secretly). I have a feeling she'll be back one day once her spawn arrives, and hopefully she'll be friendlier to her otherwise sworn enemies. (Lord knows mommies are less ferocious than nonnies.. right? Which brings me to thepinky, who I'm glad to have around just to stir up some shit and to have an earnest discussion with once in a while. Also, she's the baby, gotta love her.

The norwegian boys, haldaug and ornothoron, with their gum-drop smiles and marzipan houses have been presences on the sift lately.

Their otherwise troll-like kinsman Rasch187 is a huge pillar of the sift and is our resident necromancer, reviving dead videos everywhere. And even if we butt heads once in a while, he great around here.

Peggedbea is a gal with spunk, who says what on her mind - we need more of this in the comments and talks. She's also adorable. And I'm going to visit her in TX this summer, which can only end in tragedy.

The usual suspects, Kronosposeidon, Blankfist and Rottenseed are also impossible to miss around here. They are the easy targets for our thread jacking (and other jacking) jokes, but they are formidable presences around here too. They all give and take a lot of ass gravy, and I would drink a beer with any one of them. John, Heath and Jive Mittens, I salute you.

arvana's our kind-hearted nature guy. I don't think I've ever seen an angry comment from this dude. I suppose he's become a reasonable adult now that he's cut his hippie hair (yeah, I remember).

I'm forgetting people, but I want to save my Canadian sweetheart for last - NicoleBee is my nerdly counterpart who first really caught my attention, when she tried to summon an elder god on my profile. I would want her as president even more for this reason. She knows how to be sneaky to get the job done. What, you guys think candy and rainbows run this nation?? Every decision they make requires minimum amount of evil to go with it.

Obama speaks of all these idealistic things but they simply aren't realistic. And besides, once you're president you should be busy fixing all the damage Bush administration has done, not some goddamn system change. That'll throw the entire nation into chaos and NOTHING WILL GET DONE. Besides, things he speak of can be done even without him having to be president. He's still a democrat. He'll have buddies to work with in the congress.

Bill Clinton, the knight in shining armor on a white donkey of democratic party, has admitted he would violate individual rights from US constitution if it meant saving the nation from Nuclear holocaust. And his political career isn't too far away from this idea either. But Hillary gets blammed for doing similar things her husband already has done. You guys really think Bill Clinton's campaigns and administration was squeaky clean???? (other things than the Lewinski scandal of course).

Hillary's campaign isn't something equal to a nuclear emergency, but it means she is willing to get down and dirty in the filth of politics. I really hope she wins democratic election. So stop bad mouthing Hillary for being realistic and knowing how to play the game.
