Jimmy Carr vs Hecklers (compilation)
Some people really don't understand that they're walking jokes. Hell I could've fried most of these idiots to hell and back.
Seriously, why do these idiots even get a sentence out. You would be thrown out of my theater for anything these idiots did--no refund.
/Sometimes I wonder if they're plants for that very reason.
What is a dupe? (User Poll by blankfist)
context is everything.
for example:i just posted doug stanhopes "no refunds" full show but there are a number of clips from that very same show.
i also had a clip i posted from the movie "equilibrium" which zonbie had also posted but mine had an extra 2 mins which gave the clip context to understand what was going on while zonbies did not.
the way i handled it was to contact zonbie directly and see what he thought and gave him the opportunity to reclaim any votes if he felt it was a dupe.
another practice i try to engage in is if i have a clip that may be ..in part..another sifters posted video i link said video.
my feeling is it gives the viewer more content and also gives credit to my fellow poster.
its all about the sharing.......hug?
Rage gameplay demo (e3 2010)
@Deano - people feel that when they pay good money for a product, they are entitled to a good product. If you paid a lot of money for a car, and the car was shit, you'd return the car. In a lot of situations you aren't allowed to do that with games - i've been refused many times because my game has an online component. Of course, i never used the online component but they don't believe that story and why should they?
We can't even rely on big games reviewers to be honest about the games they review because they're either taking fucking bungs from games companies or they're so used to shit games that they think everything is 5 out of 5, and unless you think that every big game released from every big company is a perfect 5 stars out of 5, you can't really argue with that.
I would never say "if you're not happy with something, steal it!" But i can completely understand why people would, especially when you back them into a corner where you're forcing them to gamble on a game - oh you don't like that pitiful excuse for a game that was voted 5 out of 5 by all top reviewers? Too bad, no refund.
I wouldn't be so quick to tow the corporate line though dude, if you take a deep look at music downloads (illegal and otherwise), the jury is STILL out on whether illegally downloading music helps or hinders sales. When 'industry' says "We've lost 10 million this year on illegal downloads (((" they are making the assumption that every person who downloaded something would have bought it if they'd not been able to download it. And you simply can't assume that, there's no evidence for it. But there are people who downloaded it, liked it, bought it - and that IS provable.
@Ryjkyj - i agree with you on that one, i thought oblivion was balls. I never got into morrowind because i felt it didn't give me enough direction/motivation to go and do things (play it), but i do know that it was a well made game even if i didn't like that single aspect.

Being the comic this happened to I think there should be some extra info for this video
First this was an xrated No Refunds show. The crowd was warned before they came in that this is a show that is going to go too far. At that point I had already done jokes that took on cancer, aids and special needs. The crowd was loving the show and after the assault I did another 13 mintues and then ended the show
Even if this was not an xrated show no one has the right to be that much of a cowardly cunt to do what he did. I have been jumped before but at least that is man to man...not just a missile coming from the dark
I also do not need to take any pointers from any comic about dealing with hecklers. I have been doing this for many years. I like jimmy carrs stuff but I am fine dealing with them myself.
cheers

So that was you, eh? 1) You're hilarious and 2) Nice restraint. I would have punched the guy.
Stick around, man. I think you'll like it here.

The reasons why hollywood writers have gone on strike
I think we all agree that people deserve to be payed for the products they produce.
The thing that's unique about mass media, is that it can be reproduced as needed at very little cost in order to meet demand. When you pay $3 to download a TV show it's understood that it's primarily the CONTENT that you're paying for, not the (tiny) expense of copying it.
This puts creative professionals in a unique situation, they're selling an unknown quantity of their product. When a writer sells a movie script, they can't know if they're selling ten thousand copies, or ten million. That uncertainty is what makes it necessary to use residuals rather then a lump sum.
The only other fair way to handle it would be for writers to say "Here, I'll sell you 1 million licenses to use my work. If the show is a hit, come back and buy more from me. If you can't sell that many ... well, there's no refunds". This, of course, would just be stupid.
