Nestlé Responds to Abby
I would probably not have thought of Maddow if not for the comment. If I had, it would have been because of the seriousness of the subject matter and the focus on what is otherwise taken for granted (water), which tends to be a style and approach I don't observe in many other places.
This definitely reminded me of Munn in The Newsroom. The delivery made me wonder if perhaps both went to some kind of broadcasting school and had not yet quite found the right finish. She also looks quite alike.
Godwin in five! (counting siftbot)
@gwiz665 Charisma can be subjective, so she definitely has her fans. The Maddow thing is off-putting a little bit (close your eyes and listen; she sounds almost exactly like her), but I don't think it's on purpose. She was born with that voice. I think she's more Munn than Maddow, and you can never have too much Olivia Munn, imho.

Using graphene to store energy is, I believe, not a new idea in itself. But finding an actual marketable, affordable solution is pretty interesting.
News Anchors Resign Live On Air
Both Michaels, 46, and Consiglio, 28, said frustration over the way they were allowed or told to do their jobs — something that has been steadily mounting for the last four years — became too much for them.
“There was a constant disrespecting and belittling of staff and we both felt there was a lack of knowledge from ownership and upper management in running a newsroom to the extent that I was not allowed to structure and direct them professionally,” Michaels explained. “I couldn’t do everything I wanted to as a news director. There was a regular undoing of decisions.”

At this point, direct from the VideoSift newsroom, I am making the call for Obama.
"The Answer Man" - Official Trailer [HD]
Jeff Daniels is the reason I watch "The Newsroom" because I wouldn't watch it for it's crappily written and tacked on Love Stories.
West Wing Cast does Brilliant Election Ad for Actor's Sister
Loved West Wing, not a fan of The Newsroom.
Sorkin's become a parody of himself.

Man I miss that show... I really need to watch the Newsroom one of the days...
You won't regret it. It's a great new series.

Ted Koppel: Fox News 'Bad for America'
a little over 30 years ago news used to be not-for profit but rather a badge of honor and integrity.journalists and newsrooms prided themselves on actually reporting and while there were still problems, america had a fourth estate that (for the most part) still reported actual news.
where we find ourselves today is corporate opinion news that (since the late 70's) is FOR-profit).gone are the days of actual news and what is placed in its stead is entertainment dressed up like a dolled-up whore which the zombified american public has been hypnotized to believe is "news" when in actuality it is just entertainment.opinion generated conflict in order to create a dramatic soap opera where americans can enjoy their mac-n-cheese on tv trays and nod their heads in drooling supplication to their corporate (insert name here) god.
how do you control a population of supposed "free society"?
you cant have the midnight knock.
nor can you black bag every dissenting voice.
no no...
you control how they think.
you control their opinion.
let us consider a few points:
1.the media is the NUMBER ONE lobbyist.
not big oil.
not big pharma.
but the media.
2.with almost 3000 media outlets in the USA yet only FIVE owners.(thank you cuntface michael powell!)
that is one mighty powerful megaphone to influence the opinions of a population.
and its works....brilliantly.just look at some of the comments here.
@chingalera has pointed this out in his usual colorful manner and is spot on.
independent news media is the only way to go if you are looking for actual journalism.
@shinyblurry do not get caught in the trap my friend.do not rely on corporate "news" to enlighten you concerning the situation in the middle east nor the origins of the anymosity towards america.truth does not suit their purposes in controlling your opinion.
might i recommend this most excellent documentary:

and @quantumushroom i will let chomsky address your false equivalency argument:
Tea Party is the American Taliban
So... protesting against government's excessive spending and taxes, and wanting to reduce the national debt, and budget deficit with a constitutionally limited government = Taliban
Yeah... makes sense.
Let's gather the most abhorrent quotes from people never involved with the foundation of the movement, and make loose associations that have little to do with its expressed agenda, and voilà... TALIBAN!
Now we can hate them without critical thinking, THANK YOU NEWSROOM!

This show is so good. If you're not watching it yet you should be
This.
The only problems I have with this show are 1) Aaron Sorkin's juvenile interpretation of adult romantic relationships and 2) the cutesy way he makes his characters talk. If I could alter those two elements of the Newsroom, it might be perfect.

I finally watched it just now. Not bad even though it wasn't my genre. I do like the breaking news part. I can see why people love it. I will not be watching watch more.
