clinton and sanders clash during feb 4th democratic debates

VoodooV says...

It cracks me up that she calls that an "attack."

Sure in a very literal sense, it is. But after decades of crazy negative ads where candidates will make some of the most ludicrous claims against their opponent, her attempt to cry foul at Bernie's criticism rings a bit hollow for me.

It just doesn't have the same weight as being accused of being muslim or not being born in America, etc.

I should add, by the way, that in the 2008 election I a steadfast supporter of Paul for the Republican ticket.

Really? creating an account and posting your first message to post junk like this? Take a look at the bottom of that article to see how people react to poorly composed, slanted articles like that.

I looked for links to this article on Google and it looks like it is referenced in a ton of comments about how Newt is fighting back against negative ads. I wonder if these posts are related to his campaign.

yopyopyop, are you paid to post?

4 Years Ago Iowa Was EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

Yes, I created an account just to post that but I don't see how that makes what Paul said any less hazardous. I'm very fed up with people romanticizing and elevating Ron Paul to a hero status. Some of his approaches are refreshing, I totally agree, but I think a lot of people get swept up in the hype and ignore the fact that a lot of his key stances are elitist. If you look at his approaches to welfare and class distinctions, it's very quite sickening. His basic position is that people should be happy with their lots in life. On the one hand this means not meddling in others affairs (yay, no foreign wars) but on the other it means not helping out people who need social support. I'm not a U.S. citizen and don't work for Gingrich, if that's what you're wondering.

Best 2009 commercial so far: Bavaria vs Heineken

Obama Plays the Palin Card

John McCain's Domestic Terrorism Problem

NetRunner says...

^ Joe, what do you want to have happen in November?

If Obama puts out weak sauce negative ads, you go ballistic about him being a wimp, and doing everything he can to lose.

If Obama puts out a blistering attack (though he didn't have shit to do with this one), you're wishing a pox on him.

If you're looking for a mud-free election, talk to the Republican party.

If you're looking for a Republican-free White House, cheer for Democrats who've finally learned the value of negative campaigning.

Who're you campaigning for this season? Nader? McKinney? McCain?

Obama ad: "Honor"

Crosswords says...

Some do discuss policy, even if not in depth. Hard to get in a good explanation in 30 seconds. This is probably the best ad i've seen so far (substance wise): http://www.videosift.com/video/Barack-Obama-Adresses-The-Nation-9162008 .

Unfortunately Negative ads work, and not using them is detrimental to a campaign.
>> ^spoco2:
Being that I'm not in America, are these ads, those from Obama attacking McCain, and those from McCain attacking Obama, all there are?
Or are there some ads actually offering policy ideas? Anyone? Anyone?

McCain Sex-Ed Ad; Obama Camp Calls it "Perverse"

NetRunner says...

^ No, this is perhaps the lowest point they've sunk to yet.

I like these ads:

http://www.videosift.com/video/Were-In-It-Together
http://www.videosift.com/video/Playground-Politics

McCain has only done 2 positive ads that I've seen -- one to remind everyone he was a P.O.W. that he ran from March to June, and then a more recent one with Palin that's positive, but makes false claims.

If I recall correctly they said McCain's done 24 different negative ads, with a handful being compared to the worst of the worst (Daisy, Willie Horton), while Obama's done 13, and most of them make people like me say "come on, you can do better than that!"

Who's the Real Celebrity?

NetRunner says...

I'm not fond of the negative turn, but it was kinda inevitable, especially when McCain's at 90% negative ads now.

I don't think Obama said he would never "feed into the attack ad fad", he said he wanted it to be a respectful campaign -- McCain ended that possibility several weeks ago, and Obama's chastised him for "feeding into the attack ad fad".

IMO, he's been slow in returning fire, and still isn't anywhere near as negative about McCain as McCain is about Obama.

Obama, for example, is still basing his negative ads at least partially on McCain's actual policies, and is trying to include a positive message about his own policies. McCain on the other hand isn't talking about policy at all, and when he is, he just flat out makes shit up.

Obama should just slap a campaign logo on this, this, or this and call it a day.

He may yet still, because it's only going to get more nasty from here.

Hillary Clinton, lobbyists, and you

Aemaeth says...

He doesn't need to say he approves, but if it's paid for by campaign money and televised then there needs a notice at the end explaining who paid for it. Since this is the internet, they can do whatever they want.

I'd be surprised if this was from Obama, since he hasn't ran much of a smear campaign (from what I've seen) even though he's had lots of chances. If he did a negative ad, this is what it would look like. He tends to snidely suggest Clinton has problems without straight calling her retarded.

Hendrix Clinton Experience (Blog Entry by Fedquip)

This is not a negative ad. This is pointing out a direct quote.

Negative ads usually only feature the other guy (which this does), but also are a little more misleading than this one.

Mike Huckabee has a Christmas wish for you and yours

joedirt says...

LOL.. .I heard Huckanut on the radio today shooting pheasants (not peasants).

He literally threaten to kill his opponents that run negative ads.

Then he made the "funny" joke about the three dead birds he was holding up for reporters were not going to caucus for him in Iowa, so they were shot dead. The one that got away "was wearing a Huckabee pin on his tail feathers"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sntTJSDuVwM

He is like twice as nuts as "W". Ordained baptist my ass. This guy has put more people to death I believe than any Governor.
