Lisa Hannigan - Passenger

I feel somewhat underprepared! Since all my favourite performers have at least one vid here on vs already, perhaps a eurofolk playlist is in order? I've been following Le Cargo, since every google search of bands I liked ended up there, and posting my favourite ones here.
For a non-exhaustive list to start, I would recommend these English bands:
And these from the rest of Europe
I welcome any other suggestions, too
>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:
Could I request a European folk listening list from you in this thread, oritteropo?
You find some nice stuff.

I did see Pandorum. not too shabby. Dark City is in one of those two categories. You have to go old school for the fallen civ movies. logans run, damnation Alley, The Stand.

Dag, I totally feel the same way.
Did you see the recent movie Pandorum? Pretty incredible first 1/3 of the movie.
Can you recommend any movies or books in those 2 themes?
In reply to this comment by dag:
Weird - I had a much more positive takeaway from this trailer - but then I love this kind of stuff.
Actually, if I think about it - my two favourite SF themes are:

Guy High Fives Unsuspecting Tourists in Pisa
Additionally, Venice is awesome but NEVER go in the summer. It's super hot & humid, which means the canals stink (because they're also the city sewers), and it is CRAZY crowded with tourists. Go in the off season. Everything is just as beautiful, but you'll actually get to enjoy it. >> ^raverman:
For any considering it. DON'T bother planning the tower of Pisa in to your trip.
It's a depressing little trap town. It really isn't that interesting or unique when you're there. You won't have a good time, and you wont 'remember it fondly forever'.
You'll remember how disappointed you were and that you saw better churches and towers and this sucked you in because of famous bad architecture and tourists all getting in each other's photos. If you do have to go, don't make the mistake of thinking you'll stay a night and see the town. It's basically a ghetto bus stop of regrets.
Book 5 nights in the Ci
nque Terre and a further 3 nights in Sorrento instead and tell me this wasn't the best advice i ever gave you.

Probably one of the few occasions where this li'l fella is better off in a zoo than being out in the wild - I hate to think how he (or she!) would cope with ice!
I was just thinking his claws would dig into ice more easily.
How to See Underwater Without Goggles

No, but you might be the only one who can resist Chong-Li's eye dust trick.
Definitely going to try this. CUT TO:

Yes, the same one. VS will approve the code (with a different ID and not a dupe), but after it changes it for the final submission, then it gets rejected to say code is invalid.
- Paste vimeo URL into the embed box

Speaking Correct Order of Words Yoda Is
http://vimeo.com/39507943
...which was posted by critical_d here - http://videosift.com/video/Speaking-Correct-Order-of-Words-Yoda-Is
When I modify the clip ID to one that hasn't posted, I get something like:
<br /> <object width="500" height="281"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="<a rel="nofollow" href="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=39507943&amp;show_title=0&amp;show_byline=0&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;

The thing to notice is that the clip_id= parameter is the same id as the original URL, so it's easy enough to modify one embed for another video.

I've had no problem submitting their Vids. But they stopped allowing anything but iframe. I used to post their videos on my profile page but Videosift doesn't recognize those anymore. No conversion like when you're submitting a video.

You can only do this for embeds which haven't already been posted to videosift, the one in the talk post has been submitted by critical_d.
- Paste vimeo URL into the embed box
- Hit "validate embed"
- Copy transmogrified embed
- Paste as comment on your profile
Anyway, the trick certainly CAN work, and often does... start with the URL though, I haven't tried it starting with the iframe embed.
