High-energy rabbit does epic NASCAR impression

KO'ed Fighter gets choked out by ref when he keeps attacking

vil says...

How much more stupid and absurd can this "sport" be?

Imagine
"runner tripped by official for not staying in lane"
"f1 race leader crashed out by race director in pace car for infraction"
"swimmer held under water for using illegal technique"
"soccer referee fined for pretending to be injured"
except the above actually happened...

Huh!?
What's wrong with electric car racing? Electric race cars are already outperforming combustion engine vehicles in multiple arenas, just look at the current Pike's Peak record holder, or Nuremberg. Formula E is easily as exciting as F1. Extreme E races electric off road vehicles through the Amazon. Projekt E brings electric vehicles to top tier rally racing, there are many electric rally series. Pure ETCR is a GT racing series.

Do you miss the noise, or the smell? The racing is actually more exciting thanks to 100% torque at all speeds.

Sort of like electric car racing. Meh.

On the other hand, a ZOO is an artificial spectacle anyway so making it more artificial is probably acceptable for the future.

Fleetwood Mac Albatross 1969.10.09 Pop & Blues Festival '69

vil says...

Sad.

So first I thought this was a really short video.

Then I googled and found out how little video material from that era exists.

I found a great clip of Oh Well, live, in the middle of that.

Then I googled that Danny Kirwan died two years ago.

Only then I noticed Peter Green died.

And then I "remembered" the lick from Oh Well as the Formula 1 intro from before The Chain.

Then I Googled it.

Then I realized that it wasnt.

Then I remembered a conversation I had with someone 40 years ago who heard Oh Well and said "this is the music from F1" and I explained that no, that is another song by the same band but its not the same band anymore.

Somehow what gets stuck in your head becomes potato mash at some point. Or its just me.

It was itself the theme to "25 years of rock" a few years later.

Peter gave everything away because of drug induced mental problems, not that much of a good role model. At least he made it out of the 70s alive.

Lucas di Grassi on how quickly Formula E has evolved

vil says...

This is all fine, why not. IMHO Formula 1 is basically approaching this from the other shore most of the time.

Racing cars used to be about adrenalin, taming a beast, surviving unlikely odds and so on, an adventure for gentlemen.

In the last 40 years it has become a competition in pushing buttons, mostly.

If racing cars can have ABS, automatic gearboxes, power steering and all, why not an electric motor?

I still think it is sad and I am glad I saw F1 in the 70s.

This 11-Year-Old Racing Prodigy Is Breaking Records

greatgooglymoogly says...

She has a huge advantage learning racing and feeling a car at the limit at such a young age. Whether that translates into F1 level talent is impossible to say. Hopefully if she's good enough she gets a chance. But advantages do nothing without innate skill which she obviously has.

Here's What It's Like To Drive A Formula 1 Car!

SeesThruYou says...

This is all very cool and informative, but knowing what it's really like to drive an F1 car is not something you can experience through any form of media, no matter how in-depth it might be. You can talk about it, make videos, even simulate it in VR, but unless you actually DO it, you'll never really know.

The Greatest F1 Battle - Villeneuve vs Arnoux

vil says...

Well I was just fooling around, no bother about the privilege, seems to have worked anyway.

I wonder with all the money in F1 since 1979 when do we get a product this good?

Liberal Redneck - Muslim Ban

spawnflagger says...

Just to add to Liberal Redneck's point of Arabs and American Rednecks having things in common, WWE was quite popular in the Middle East, as is car racing (F1 not Nascar though). Also camping and 4x4'ing.

He's concentrating on the F1 car blasting up behind them.
