it's hard to weigh up realistically. the greater the population the more minds able to work on the world's problems... the more people - the smaller the fraction of the population die in climate chaos.
not a popular way to look at it i know... but hell, anything we do or don't do as individuals is insignificant, compared to which alternative power sources us drones are supplied with by our governments.

Alternative energies have been actively suppressed by the existing powers and corporations.

We should have had alternative power and transportation resources in place by now, had their development been funded and supported like they should have been thirty years ago.
