Avengers 2: Age of Ultron - Official Teaser Trailer

Payback says...

IronHulk! *cough*

Then again maybe, like The Avengers trailers, they're not showing the good stuff.

I hate it when they CGI robots. The Terminator (after the tanker esplodes and is chasing Sarah through the factory) is still God Emperor of robot filming.

Honest Trailers - Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I feel like the current crop of superhero flicks are sacrificing too much in the way of character development for spectacle and more characters. I was honestly surprised by the reception to The Avengers as it felt like it could have been directed by Michael Bay. I suppose it's too much to wish for more superhero movies in the style of Watchmen, particularly given how badly it did.

I thought CA:TWS had some good set piece scenes, but ultimately fell into the same camp (threadbare plot! more under-developed characters! more explosions!). The deeper themes I saw some reviewers vouch for (surveillance vs. security) seemed horribly superficial.

GBH was certainly better than "not bad", but everyone I'd read/talked to spoke about it like it was the second coming. It's certainly the most "Wes Anderson" movie WA has done. I get it... you like symmetry! And why can't I compare it to his other movies? That seems kinda arbitrary since you're comparing Capn Murica to GBH.

And absolutely, Winter Soldier wasn't as good as Avengers or (Guardians for that matter).

But then, I still think my favourite movie of the year was the Lego movie

I found Grand Budapest Hotel to be thoroughly brilliant and enjoyable from start to finish, but maybe because I haven't seen Wes Anderson's previous films. Try not to compare it to his other films. which can be hard because of his style, but I think you'll find it a lot more enjoyable and much better than "not bad".

As for Cappin Murica Too, I did like it, but compared to and still coming off the high of The Avengers (as I had watched it again not long before), where the characters, dialogue and action was just so great, especially the action. So well choreographed, so well paced, so well shot (no shaky cam BS) and such interesting stunts and if memory serves me, no stupid slow-mo. After that, CA2 didn't quite compare.

Which is why I want to see it again, where Avengers wasn't so fresh in my mind, and where I hadn't been put in a different state of mind after watching GBH

It was a fun, well made action flick with decent characters. It wasn't Citizen Kane but it was an excellent example of what it wanted to be.

Grand Budapest Hotel though, was very overrated IMHO. Not that it was bad, but it wasn't nearly as good as The Life Aquatic.

Your "arguments" revolve around semantics, and glib statements. These, my friend, are not an arguments at all. I have defended my position, whereas you have nothing to offer in serious defense of yours. At best your "views" are fluffy, idealistic nonsense, which only reflect how you think justice would be best served. Get into the real world. You could start by asking the victims of serious crime whether they are happy that the criminal who killed a loved one will be allowed back into society. Get some coherent, rational, factual information about peoples views on crime and punishment, and then try and debate. In the mean time, stop wasting my time with any more puerile comments (you can use your dictionary to look up puerile).

I tend to agree. He's fairly bland but was a linking character in the various films before The Avengers, thus he's been built up to justify that.

Why is Agent Coulson supposedly beloved character? (I've seen Avengers and all the other Marvel comic movies, but never read the comics.) When he died, I didn't feel anything because he always felt like a background character, but it seemed like the writers made his death scene a major plot point... am I missing something?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Official trailer

RFlagg says...

@criticalthud We just saw Agent Coulson stabbed and pass out, which they passed off as a death to make the Avengers gather as a team and avenge his death. They never showed the medical team confirm he was dead. It is more about what you don't see than what you do see.
